Nadal and Federer to Meet at US Open?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

With the US Open beginning this week, a rivalry is about to be reignited. The most prominent rival in tennis today is between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

The two talented tennis players have met seven times in grand slam final, in 10 different countries, and 17 times in a final. Their Wimbledon final in 2008 has been described as one of the most exceptional match fans of tennis have seen. However the two have never met at a US Open.

Although the two have met in 21 times in 10 different countries, the two barely ever meet in the US. The last time the rivals played on a US court was in the spring of 2005. However, that may all change this month at the US Open.

Roger Federer has put up a good fight, but not good enough. With 14 victories Rafael Nadal leads the rivalry by seven. Maybe this year at the US Open Federer will be able to lower the deficit, and beat Nadal. And who knows, maybe he can go on to be the champion.

The 2010 US Open began on Monday, but will continue on through Saturday September 4, 2010. Just because the Open has already began does not mean it’s too late to experience the action for yourself, as the championship game isn’t held for another five days.

2009 US Open Tennis Champ Expected to Play This Year

Monday, July 26th, 2010

After being sidelined for most of the season because of wrist surgery, defending US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro is expected to play at this year’s open.

According to the US Tennis Association Del Potro is on the entry list for the Grand Slam tournament, and is expected to compete in the Open. In 2009 Del Potro beat Roger Federer, five-time US Open champion, and claimed his very first Grand Slam title. In 2010 Del Proto has only competed in one tournament, the Australian Open, due to surgery to his right wrist.

The US Open Tennis Tournament is one of four events that make up the Grand Slam for tennis. The Open is the final event, and perhaps the most important. Over 600 players will compete for a chance to win the $17 million in prize money.

Last year Juan Martin del Potro was the talented first place winner, and he is hoping for the same results this year as he enters the 2010 US Tennis Open.

The 2010 US Open will be held in Corona, New York begin beginning on Monday, August 30, and will end on Saturday, September 4 with the Championship session.
