The Top 5 Events on SelectATicket.com last week were as follows:

  1. Super Bowl Tickets
  2. New York Yankees Tickets
  3. Bruce Springsteen Tickets
  4. MLB All Star Game Tickets
  5. Big East Tournament Tickets

One surprise at first glance is seeing New York Yankees tickets making the list but with news of Jorge Posada retiring this past week and spring training about to get started, it really isn’t hard to imagine how fans would have baseball on their mind and the season is really not that far off.

Bruce Springsteen’s first tour in two years with the E Street Band has also made the list as tickets for those shows are very popular.

And of course the number one event is Super Bowl XLVI between the New York Giants and New England Patriots, coming up this Sunday but there’s still time to buy tickets.

Check back next week for the list of top 5 events for the current week.

Super Bowl Tickets Available Now for Patriots vs Giants

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

With a nail-biting 23-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, the New England Patriots became the first team to advance on to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, Indiana and the New York Giants needed overtime to defeat the San Francisco 49ers to move on to the Super Bowl.

In a hard fought AFC Championship Game, New England was able to hang on and dodge a few bullets including a broken up but very catchable pass in the end zone and a missed “chippy” field goal by usually reliable Baltimore placekicker Billy Cundiff. Cundiff missed a 32 yard field goal attempt in the waning moments which would have pushed the game to overtime. A heartbreaking loss for the visitors was an euphoric triumph for Tom Brady and the Patriots who are looking to add more hardware to their collection.

Making a repeat of Super Bowl 42, the New York Giants won the NFC Championship in the late game on Sundayl. The Giants caused a turnover on a punt return which led to the game winning overtime field goal by Lawrence Tynes, the second time Tynes has kicked an OT field goal to lead the Giants to the Super Bowl as he did the same in 2008 versus Green Bay.

The Super Bowl is scheduled for February 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium and you can order Super Bowl tickets now to see these two great franchises battle it out a second time for the NFL Championship.

NY Giants vs 49ers in NFC Championship Game

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

After beating the Green Bay Packers, 37-20 the New York Giants are headed to San Francisco next Sunday to play for the NFC championship. The Giants are one game away from a second Super Bowl appearance in the past four years.

When the Giants met the San Francisco 49ers in November, during regular season play, they lost 27-20. This was the first of four consecutive losses for the Giants. The Giants are looking at this match-up with the 49ers as a chance to avenge this loss.

“I’m going to go ahead and answer this for you: Do we feel we’re gonna win in San Fran?’’ Tuck said. “Yes, we feel like we’re gonna win in San Fran. Am I guaranteeing a win? No, I’m not.’’

As this will be the 13th conference championship game for the 49ers, the third most of any team, they are going in with quite a bit of experience. This is the fifth conference championship for the New York Giants, who are heading into this game with a 4-0 record for this round.

Both starting quarterbacks were number 1 picks in the NFL draft. Manning was the No. 1 pick in 2004, and Smith was the No. 1 pick in 2005. This will be only the second time in history that two No. 1 overall picks have faced each other in a conference championship.

The winner of this game will play the winner of the AFC Championship in the Super Bowl. The AFC Championship will feature the Baltimore Ravens vs New England Patriots.

Super Bowl XLV May Be Last NFL Game

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

It looks like this year’s Super Bowl XLV may be the last National Football League game… or at least for a good chunk of time. The NFL and its players are in the midst of a labor dispute that could potentially cancel the 2011-2012 season altogether.

The executive vice-president of the NFL’s business operations, Eric Grubman, could be to blame. He is a former investment banker who seems to be the core of an important labor dispute. On March 3 the current collective bargaining agreement will expire, and until a new one is put into effect there will be no more NFL games.

There are a few specific issues concerning the potential 2011 lockout. The major issues between the NFL players and the owners all have to do with money. The first issue is of revenue, as in that all the owners are in favor of closer to a 50/50 split in total revenue. The owners also would like an 18-game schedule, and a rookie wage scale. The players are opposed to this, but would like to receive better healthcare.

Could it be that the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers will be the last Super Bowl for awhile? Don’t miss out on your chance to see a Super Bowl live, and in person! Super Bowl XLV will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Super Bowl Tickets Could Set Record

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Rumors are swirling that next month’s Super Bowl XLV will set an all time high attendance record at the Cowboys Stadium. These rumors are springing from the NFL’s decision to count tickets for outside the stadium as well.

The current Super Bowl attendance record was set in 1980 at California’s Rose Bowl with an attendance of almost 104,000 people. The Texas Stadium may break that record this year with the sale of outside tickets.

This year, the Cowboys are selling $200 tickets to an outside plaza for Super Bowl XLV. These tickets were first available to Cowboys season ticket holders, and could account for thousands of tickets. On Wednesday, NFL’s vice president of corporate communications, Brian McCarthy, told CNN that these tickets will count in the game’s attendance tally.

With counting these outsize plaza tickets, the stadium has expanded its capacity from 80,000 to around 100,000. The stadium has already set an NFL attendance record for having the highest attendance for a single-game. This record was set in 2009 with a crowd of 105,121 people, and this year they may have another attendance record under their belt.

Super Bowl XLV will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

New York Makes Super Bowl 2014 Bid

Friday, May 14th, 2010

On Wednesday the New York Jets and the New York Giants made their bid to host the 2014 Super Bowl at the new Meadowlands Stadium. However, there is some controversy surrounding this bid as it will be the first time the Super Bowl will not be held in a stadium with a roof, or in a place where the minimum game day temperature is around 50 degrees.

These have been the requirements since the first Super Bowl in 1967, but when the National Football League waived those game day requirements it gave the Jets and the Giants the go-ahead to submit a joint bid to be the host. On May 25 NFL owners will be voting on the game’s 2014 location.

The game will either be held in NYC, South Florida, or Tampa, and it will be up to the 32 NFL owners who are voting to decide. If none of the cities get votes from 24 of the owners (75 percent of the vote) on the first ballot, then no one will be determined the winner. However, the city with the lowest votes will be removed from the competition, and then the winner will be decided on the second ballet by majority rule.

Tickets for the 2014 Super Bowl are not on sale yet, but you can sign up for Super Bowl Tickets Alert to be notified by Select A Ticket when they are on sale!

Will Dwight Freeney Play in Super Bowl XLIV?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts take the field on Sunday, many NFL fans will be curious to see if Dwight Freeney of the Colts will be playing in the Super Bowl.

On Sunday night the colts were describing the defensive end’s injury to his lower ankle just a sprain, but ESPN described him as having torn ankle ligaments. They also made it clear that it is a serious injury and may keep Dwight Freeney out of the Super Bowl. In any case, he will most likely be sitting out for the major practices leading up to the big game.

A sports injury expert named Will Carroll explained that if the injury is a Grade 3 ligament injury that means the ligaments in his ankle are 50% torn or more. He suspects that injury won’t heal quickly enough since it occurred not long ago, towards the ending of the AFC Championship Game. However, he also mentioned that he couldn’t imagine Freeney not playing.

Super Bowl XLIV will be played on Sunday February 7, 2010 at the Sun Life Stadium (formerly Dolphin Stadium) in Miami, Florida. See for yourself in person if Dwight Freeney’s injury will be enough to keep him out of the biggest NFL game of the year.

Super Bowl XLIV Tickets

Colts vs Saints in Super Bowl XLIV

The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints are set to meet in Super Bowl XLIV to determine the NFL Championship.

Super Bowl XLIV is scheduled for February 7, 2010 at Sun Life Stadium (formerly Dolphin Stadium) in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The Colts fell behind the New York Jets early in the AFC Championship game but with support from their home crowd were able to rattle off 24 unanswered points to claim the AFC title. The NY Jets can be proud of the season they had as at mid-season it seemed the playoffs were out of reach.

In the NFC Championship game it took an overtime session to decide the winner. In a great battle with the Minnesota Vikings, the New Orleans Saints were able to pull out a victory with an overtime field goal by kicker Garrett Hartley.

Both teams fought hard to win their conferences but nothing will compare to the pressure of playing in the Super Bowl. The Colts with league MVP Peyton Manning at quarterback and the Saints with charismatic leader Drew Brees at the helm are two offensive powerhouses that are sure to put on a great show. Super Bowl XLIV is shaping up to be one heck of a game.

Not to be forgotten is the halftime show provided by The Who. With classic songs like My Generation, Who Are You, Baba O’Riley and Won’t Get Fooled Again, even halftime will be hard-hitting!

Before all is said and done, Super Bowl XLIV looks like it will be one for the ages — find Super Bowl tickets today at SelectATicket.com.
