Two Ohio State Players Ineligible for Rose Bowl
Thursday, December 17th, 2009The 2010 Rose Bowl will feature the match up between the Oregon Ducks (10-2) and Ohio State Buckeyes (10-2). This game will be played on New Years day at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. This is a stadium that can hold over 90,000 fans, and is one of the oldest college stadiums that is still used today. This year’s Rose Bowl marks the 96th anniversary, and is one of the most highly anticipated events of college football.
Ohio State announced that wide receiver Duron Carter is ineligible to play in the Rose Bowl. It was confirmed by a team source that he was facing academic issues, but there is no official reason for his absence from the game.
Duron Carter, the son of former Ohio State and NFL star Cris Carter, played in all 12 games of the regular season, with 13 receptions for 176 yards and 1 touchdown. He is tied for 5th on the team for receptions, is 3rd on the team in receiving yards, and is the team’s number 4 wide receiver.
Although not officially announced, another Ohio State player who may be academically ineligible is Rob Rose. He has appeared in 11 games of the regular season, and has recorded 10 tackles including two sacks for the Buckeyes.
