The FIFA World Cup is currently taking place now, but the New York Red Bulls are still gaining attention regarding the possible addition of a new star player to their roster when the World Cup is over.
New York sports share an interesting goal, and that goal is to be on the back page of one of New York’s tabloid newspapers at least once. The Red Bulls have never really had a chance to have as big of a place in tabloid history as desired, but they seem to be making efforts in order to achieve this goal.
The Red Bulls started out by creating an ad for the back page of their own magazine, the Red Bulletin, which came free with Sunday’s edition of The New York Times. The ad states “100 Rumors. 50 Names. 1 Star,” and features a man in a Red Bulls uniform holding a soccer ball with a blurry face.
The ad is in response to rumor circulating about who the Red Bulls will sign after the World Cup. The most persistent rumor is that Thierry Henry, a French striker, will be joining the team, while others are saying that free agent Michael Ballack will be the new star player.
Once the World Cup is over, Major League Soccer will start up again, and the Red Bulls may have a new star player.
