Ending the season a disappointing 8-8 following two consecutive trips to the AFC Championship Game, the New York Jets have parted ways with Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, Line coach Bill Callahan and Wide Receivers coach Henry Ellard.

Replacing Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator will be recently ousted Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano. Replacements for Callahan and Ellard are expected to be forthcoming in the off season.

The offensive struggles of the Jets this season have been blamed on Schottenheimer and quarterback Mark Sanchez. Sanchez has now been in the league for three years and has not shown any improvement nor ability to lead the team despite head coach Rex Ryan’s insistence that Sanchez is a leader even to the point of having made him a captain of the team.

There have been published reports from unnamed players who are putting Sanchez down and claiming they want the Jets to pursue Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning should he become available via trade.

This is not the tight-knit team that Ryan wants in place as cowardly anonymous quotes in the New York tabloids are certainly not signs of a close team. Players like that need to be weeded out as Derrick Mason was earlier this season when reports came out he was displeased with Schottenheimer’s offense.

The Jets had two good seasons in a row and had a setback this year. Are they that far from where they were last year or was this just a brief stutter-step before regaining their position among the AFC elite?

The 2012 New York Jets season is going to be very telling in providing fans with that answer. Additional coaches will be brought in, there will be a new offense for Sanchez to learn, or will they really pursue the aging, injured Peyton Manning? Is Sanchez too young to give up on or not good enough to wait for? Big decisions need to be made to get Gang Green back on track.

It is going to be a thrilling season with lots of added drama as head coach Rex Ryan may be the next one on the chopping block if things don’t turnaround quickly for the Jets. Be there to see them bounce back from a down year, when next season comes around don’t forget that you can find New York Jets tickets at SelectATicket.com.

It appears unlikely that New York Jets running back, LaDainian Tomlinson, will play in the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Tomlinson did not practice all week because of a sprained medial collateral ligament that has already caused him to miss one game. Tomlinson was hurt against New England two weeks ago. Tomlinson watched his team play on television in their last game against Denver for the first time in his NFL career.

“It’s never fun to have injuries,” Tomlinson said, adding that his knee is “100 percent better” than it was earlier in the week. “It’s one of those things where we always feel like we can play, even though we’re injured. Sometimes it hurts us to go out there and play injured, but that’s what we do. And when you can’t play, it does make you down. That’s kind of where I am right now.”

The Jets and the Bills, both with 5-5 records, are looking for a victory on Sunday to keep pace in the AFC playoff race. Neither of these teams can afford to lose. The Jets won the first meeting 27-11 in Week 9.

Jeremy Kerley, rookie wide receiver, is also questionable for the game after not practicing all week with a similar injury.

The New York Jets are in a three-way tie atop the AFC East, along with the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills. If the Jets want to be in control of the division race, they must win when they face the Patriots on Sunday night for the second time this season at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets recently reestablished themselves as a running team. However, Sanchez’s efficiency is now up. During the first four weeks of the season, Sanchez completed 55.1 percent of his passes and had a passer rating of 75.9. Over the four games since, Sanchez’s completion percentage jumped up to 60.7 and his passer rating was 94.7 — second in the AFC for that time frame, behind Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger.

Last week in a 27-11 win over the Bills, New York ran the ball 39 times for 126 yards. The Jets were able to hold the football for over a full quarter longer (15 minutes, 44 seconds) than Buffalo. This season, the Jets are 4-0 when they have run the ball at least 26 times.

“Early in the year, we were doing a lot of run-action and it just wasn’t getting the sell that we wanted because we weren’t running the ball as well,” Sanchez said. “Once the running game becomes a huge factor like it is right now, teams are trying to get another hat in there, another player in there to stop the run, and that’s opened things up on the outside.”

This is a battle for tops in the division; you don’t want to miss this game!

Six months after placing a franchise tag on linebacker David Harris, preventing him from becoming a free agent, the Jets signed a multiyear contract extension with him on Tuesday. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed by the Jets. The Associated Press reported the four-year agreement to be worth $36 million, with $29.6 million guaranteed, a record for an inside linebacker.

“Last year they pretty much gave me their word that we’d be a priority this upcoming year,” Harris said. “They followed up on their word… I was patient. I knew that (GM) Mike (Tannenbaum) would come through on his promise.”

In 59 NFL games Harris has 428 tackles and in three of his four seasons with the Jets he has led the team in tackles. Harris was also the Jets’ Most Valuable Player last season.

Earlier in the week, the Jets re-signed cornerback Antonio Cromartie to a four-year contract that ESPN reported to be worth $32 million. The Jets also signed former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress to a one-year, $3.017 million contract. Burress has been out of the NFL for the past two seasons after serving 20 months in prison for gun charges. Burress has 505 catches for 7,845 yards and 55 touchdowns in his NFL career with the Steelers and Giants.

This signing comes as good news for the Jets after losing out on cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who surprisingly signed with Philadelphia.

It is clear the New York Jets intend to surpass the successes of last season and take a run at the Super Bowl this year. Be a part of the action at Meadowlands Stadium and order New York Jets tickets today.

Although the New York Jets endured a disappointing 38-34 loss at Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, they still have managed to clinch a playoff berth. This is the first time since 2001-2002 that New York has made the playoffs two seasons in a row.

The Jets (10-5) can thank the Jacksonville Jaguars, and their loss to the Washington Redskins in overtime for earning them a chance to be in the playoffs as a Wild Card team. Coach Rex Ryan admitted that the Jets’ spot in the playoffs was not earned “the way I wanted it, but I’ll take it.”

Since both teams are ranked high defensively, Sunday’s game was assumed to be an even game with not a lot of points on the board. However, the Jets’ defense allowed five touchdowns, which included three in just one quarter. Chicago’s QB Jay Cutler completed 13 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jets had an overall lousy performance in their loss to the Bears, and most certainly will not get much further through the playoffs if they continue down this path. The New York Jets will host their next game at the New Meadowlands Stadium against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, January 2, 2010.

The New York Jets are currently tied for best record in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. On Sunday night the Jets extended their record to 8-2 with a win over the Houston Texans.

New York’s 30-27 win over the Texans caused everyone in the stands, watching at home, and on the field to be at the edge of their seats until the final moments of the game. With just ten seconds in the fourth quarter, the Jets were relying on a touchdown pass from Mark Sanchez to Santonio Holmes.

Sunday’s game marked the third win in a row for the Jets, but it was also the third straight close-call game. With an upcoming game on Thanksgiving day, the New York Jets are looking to reduce their struggles with the Cincinnati Bengals.

It should not be much as a challenge for the Jets, as the Cincinnati Bengals are entering Thursday’s game off of their seventh straight loss – not to mention extremely with low morale. The defending AFC North champs need to step their game up if they want to have any hope of beating New York.

The New York Jets will play in Thursday’s Thanksgiving finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.

For the first time in nine years, the New York Jets are hoping to open the season by winning three games in a row on the road. So far on the road New York has played in Miami against the Dolphins and in Buffalo against the Bills, and were victorious in both games. Now with a 4-1 record, the Jets are currently leading the AFC East.

The Denver Bronos are the next opponents in the Jets’ path on the road. Although Denver has one of the top passing games in the NFL, the Jets were ranked at the top for pass defense in 2009. However, this year the Jets seem to be having a bit of trouble as they have allowed an average of 234.6 passing yards per game. The question is… will Denvers’ strong passing game be able to trump the Jets on the road?

The high amount of passing yards that New York has allowed may have something to do with the loss of Darrelle Revis, the Jets’ star cornerback. Health issues entailing a strained right hamstring caused the All-Pro to miss two games already this season. Revis played in Monday’s game against Minnesota, but admitted that his leg felt sore afterwards. Coach Rex Ryan is unsure if Revis will play on Sunday or not, but he said has high hopes that he will be “ready to roll.”

The New York Jets will face the Denver Broncos on Sunday, October 17 at the Invesco Field at Mile High.

On Monday night the New York Jets played their first regular season game in the New Meadowlands Stadium, but unfortunately for them the game did not end in their favor. The Jets took a disappointing 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in perhaps the worst season opener the Jets have ever had.

Second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez had a hard time making plays, and it seemed as though he played much better last year. In Sunday’s game he was 10 for 21 with only 74 yards. Sanchez completed three passes for 27 yards, but didn’t have a completion on it’s own longer than 13 yards.

Despite their loss the Jets seem to have a positive outlook. After the loss guard Damien Woody admitted that he “never heard of a season being done after one game,” and he certainly is right. The Jets have all season to get back on their feet, and you can bet that they will start with their next game.

The New York Jets will play their next game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, September 19 for an afternoon game at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

For the second week in a row, the New York Jets had to play without Darrelle Revis, a member of their first team defense. Fortunately for the Jets the rest of the defense was on top of their game and playing well. During the Jets’ last game Jim Leaonhard notably made an interception, and also a sack off of Panthers’ quarterback Matt Moore.

Many offensive players in the game also shined on Saturday night, including Joe McKnight. The rookie running back gained 28 yards on 11 carries, and also had a punt return for 67 yards. McKnight definitely took coach Ryan’s criticism to heart, and showed the coaches that he had the toughness they were expecting to see.

The special teams unit for the Jets played well too. They forced two fumbles on punts in the first half alone, and the once again in the second half. Early in the game Lance Laury and David Clowney made recoveries for the Jets which allowed them to have pretty good field position.

The New York Jets will host their next preseason game at the New Meadowlands Stadium against the Washington Redskins on Friday, August 27, 2010.

In April the New York Jets made some odd changes during the off season which included signing a defensive player that left some Jets fans confused. Jason Taylor, a former Miami Dolphin, signed a two-year contract with the Jets after publicly badmouthing the team, and the intelligence of the fans, for many years.

Taylor was expecting the fans to be angry towards him at Wednesday’s minicamp practice at the New Meadowlands Stadium because of the comments he has made in the past. Taylor unfortunately did experience some boos from the fans, but they was short lived. By the end of practice he was high fiving fans and signing autographs. Fans even began to cheer for him, which was much appreciated by Taylor.

The 35 year old defensive linemen did not participate much in Wednesday’s practice. He underwent shoulder surgery which he is currently in the process of recovering from. The surgery certainly is limiting his ability to practice, but the fans liked him anyway.

The Jets will play their first preseason game against the New York Giants as they open up their home at the New Meadowlands Stadium together on Monday, August 16, 2010.

Jason Taylor signed a two-year contract with the New York Jets on Monday despite being despised by the fans for many years because of comments he made regarding his dislike for the Jets.

Taylor did not want to leave the Dolphins, but according to sources the Dolphins did not acknowledge his phone calls while he was in pursuit of a new contract. They told him that he would have to wait until after the draft for them to even consider renewing his contract. Two weeks ago Taylor visited the Jets, but only left with the decision to either wait until after the draft to see if Miami would re-sign him, or to sign with New York.

The 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is another signing risk that coach Rex Ryan has made to add to the multiple other ones. Fans will have to wait and see if this odd off-season activity will be rewarding to them or not.

Ryan seems to think it will be beneficial to their goal of reaching the playoffs. ”We expect Jason to play a bunch and be a major contributor to our defense, clearly, we have an outstanding group already, but you can expect Jason to be out there a bunch.”

The New York Jets will host the opening game at the new Meadowlands stadium on August 16, 2010 against fellow tenants, the New York Giants. The regular season for the Jets begins on Monday, September 13, 2010 against the Baltimore Ravens.

The New York Jets and the New York Giants will meet on August 16, 2010 as they both host the opening game at the new Meadowlands stadium. The NFL changed the original preseason schedule to allow this game to be the opening one for each of the two teams as they wished. Considering it is the The Jets’ turn to be the host in this rivalry, they will be the home team at their 42nd meeting ever in a preseason game.

Giants Stadium has been considered home to the Giants since 1976. The Jets moved in 8 years later in 1984 and became a new tenant. This new stadium will stop the Jets from feeling like a second rate team because the two teams will share a 50/50 partnership. It will be the only stadium that is shared by two teams, as was the old Giants Stadium.

The Giants and Jets flipped a coin to see who would open their regular season first. The Giants won, and will play their first regular season game on September 12. The Jets will open at the new Meadowlands stadium on the following Monday. However, in August you can experience the inaugural game between the two occupants of the new Meadowlands stadium. This is a once in a lifetime chance that you do not want to miss out on!

The New York Jets are on their way to the AFC Championship game. This is the first time since 1999 that the Jets made it this far when they lost to Denver. The Jets ended the San Diego Chargers’ 11 game winning streak to advance to the Championship game. The Chargers were upset 17-14 in San Diego, but the Jets still have on more step in order to become the AFC Champions.

The New York Jets will play the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, January 24, 2010. If they win this game they go all the way to the Super Bowl XLIV, but if they lose then the team’s 2009-2010 season is over.

The Jets started their playoffs when they beat the Cincinnati Bengals as a wildcard pick. Now the Jets are just one game away from being guaranteed to play in Super Bowl XLIV. If the New York Jets become the AFC Champions, and make it to the Super Bowl this will be the first time in 41 years since this has happened. Don’t miss your chance to see the NFL action for yourself.

The New York Jets were the lucky team to play the football finale at Giants Stadium. New York closed the stadium with a 37-0 shutout to the Cincinnati Bengals, and a shower of green and white confetti. Giants’ stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey has hosted the most National Football League games in history. In this 34 year-old building the Jets earned playoff berth in its final game.

The Jets completely owned the first half of the game. During New York’s opening drive they went 72 yards in 7 plays where Thomas Jones finally got into the end zone and scored for the home team. Mark Sanchez threw for less than 70 yards and went 8 of 16 passing. But it was New York’s defense that was able to stop Cincinatti. They held the Bengals to only 7 yards.

The Jets embarrassed the Bengals in Sunday’s game. However, the Jets won 5 out of their last 6 games so they earned the AFC’s fifth seed and a chance to play in the wild card round. Cincinnati will have a chance to redeem themselves when the teams face each other in the playoffs on Saturday at Paul Brown Stadium.

The New York Jets have a possible opportunity at a playoff berth this season. In the past decade, the Jets (8-7_ have had 6 chances at a playoff berth going into the final game of the regular season. Whether it was by their own doing, or because of other results, the Jets were able to convert on 4 out of 6 of these occasions.

On Sunday night, when the Jets have their final game of the regular season and host Cincinnati, they will have an opportunity to make that 5 out of 7 times. If they Jets win this game they are in the playoffs, but if they lose they are out. Sunday night’s game will be the football finale at Giants Stadium.

If they Jets beat the Cincinnati Bengals, that would secure the number 6 seed in the AFC for the New York jets. The Bengals don not have much to worry about on Sunday. They are definitely in the playoffs, but only their seed, number 3 or 4, is up for grabs. Either way, they are in the playoffs. However, the Jets are not concerned about this. All they are concerned about is a chance to be in that Superbowl tournament!

The New York Jets had a crucial win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon in New York. The 17-6 victory over Carolina improved the Jets’ record to 5-6. With just 5 games left to be played before the playoffs, this important win raised the hopes of the Jets being a part of all the playoff action.

Jake Delhomme of the Carolina Panthers threw 4 interceptions which led to their loss. The New York Jets’ defensive player, Darrelle Revis made two interceptions and even returned one for a 67 yard touchdown. This was the first defensive touchdown of this season for the Jets.

Rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez, didn’t throw any touchdowns this game. However, he did manage to end the game with 154 yards, just one interception, and completed 13 of 17 passes. He distributed the ball well to 5 different receivers who made receptions, such as Braylon Edwards who caught 3 balls for 40 yards, and Dustin Keller who caught 4 for 68 yards.

The New York Jets will play their next game at Buffalo against the Bills on Thursday, December 3, and they need to win in order to have a chance to get into the playoffs.

On Sunday, November 15 the New York Jets lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-22. This loss may have eliminated their chances of making it into the playoffs. It was another devastating loss for the 4-5 Jets, who opened the NFL season with three wins.

The loss came in the form of a 21-yard field goal kicked by Jacksonville’s Josh Scobee as time expired in Sunday’s game at the Meadowlands.

The Jets, who are the ranked second in the NFL for defense, allowed 250 yards, 14 first downs, and 21 points in just the first half. In the second half the Jets’ defense showed what they were made for most of allowing just 97 yards.

The New York jets played poorly, and made many sloppy errors. During the biggest play of the game they failed on pass coverage, they wasted 2 timeouts in the second half because of a sideline/huddle miscommunication, and when they were instructed not to tackle Maurice Jones-Drew, they did. Coach Rex Ryan was intending on letting Jacksonville score a touchdown just to leave enough time for the Jets to tie or win the game, but the Jets were unable to do that.

The New York Jets hope to end the teams losing streak on November 22 against the New England Patriots.

The New York Jets suffered a 16-13 defeat on Sunday by the Buffalo Bills at Giants Stadium. After starting the season 3-0, this was the Jets’ third straight loss, and until this game the Bills had lost 12 of their previous 15 games.

Although the Jets had 318 yards on the ground, they were unable to be victorious as they fell in overtime. The loss could fall much on the shoulders of Rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez. In Sunday’s game, he completed 10 of 29 passes for 119 yards, threw 5 interceptions, and no touchdowns. With an unfortunate interception pass to wide receiver, Braylon Edwards, Mark Sanchez set up the Bills’ winning drive.

Despite the poor performance, Sanchez will remain on the field. Since beating Kellen Clemens for the job, it is clear that Sanchez, the fifth overall pick out of Southern California, has mostly struggled. However, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan plans on sticking with Mark Sanchez as his starting quarterback.

On the bright side, Jets running back Thomas Jones ran for a franchise record of 210 yards on 22 carries. This was also a career best. Another contributor was Leon Washington who had 99 yards on 15 carries. With some of the top rushing performances of the year, this game could have been an easy win for the Jets.

The New York Jets have their next game on October 25 against the Oakland Raiders in Oakland.

The New York Jets lost Sunday’s game to their AFC East rivals, the Miami Dolphins, 31-27. This is the second straight week that the Jets (3-2) have lost.

First year Jets’ coach, Rex Ryan made some creative calls during the game. In the first half he called 2 fake punts that turned out very well for the Jets, and they were able to score some points. In fact, they were the only points the Jets made in the first half of the game.

The first fake was called when the New York Jets were 6 yards short of a first down on their own 34-yard line. This fake was daring, but resulted in a first down and a 26-yard gain. This fake led to a touchdown pass to wide receiver Braylon Edwards from rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez to pull the Jets into a 7-7 tie.

Monday’s game was Braylon Edwards debut with the New York Jets. The 26-year old wide receiver scored his first touchdown of the season with his first catch of the game. Sanchez through to Edwardsin the end zone, and Edwards made the touchdown scoring grab. He caught 5 passes for 64 yards and helped set up 2 more touchdowns.

The second fake was not as risky. The Jets only needed 3 yards for a first down, were at Miami’s 40-yard line, and almost in field goal range. Brad Smith ran on a direct snap for a first down which set up a 40-yard field goal by Jay Feely. This particular field goal extended Feely’s consecutive field goal streak to 22.

The New York Jets have their next game on Sunday, October 18 against the Buffalo Bills.

On Sunday, October 4 the New York Jets suffered their first loss of the season to the New Orleans Saints at The Louisiana Superdome. Heading into this game, the Jets were among only seven undefeated teams in the entire NFL. The Saints were also one of those seven teams.

The New York Jets’ defense got in the way of the Saints offense more than any other oponenent during this season so far. They stopped the Saints on 4th and 1 opportunities 2 times during Sunday’s game. They also held the Saints back in 9 third-down situations. They were able to limit the Saints to a season low of only 343 yards

The Saints used four Jets’ turnovers to their advantage to take the victory. Much of the blame for the team’s first loss of the season could be placed on Jets rookie quarterback and former USC star, Mark Sanchez. He lost the football in the Jets’ end zone which led to another score by New Orleans. He threw 3 interceptions and of them one was returned for a 99-yard touchdown.

The Jets’ 24-10 loss to the Saints leaves the team with 3 wins and 1 loss as they prepare for their next game against the Miami Dolphins on October 12.

Over the summer rookie Mark Sanchez was chosen as the starting quarterback for the New York Jets. On Sunday, September 13 during the New York Jets season opener, Sanchez led the team to a 24-7 victory over the Houston Texans.

Mark Sanchez had a lot of hype, and he lived up to it. He went 18 of 31 for 272 yards and a touchdown. He was also very good at converting third downs, and was able to convert 10 of 18. Surprisingly, he made very little mistakes, only making one interception to John Busing.

Sanchez’s first touchdown pass in the NFL was made in the second quarter to Chansi Stuckey for a 30-yard touchdown. This gave the New York Jets a 10-0 lead on the Houston Texans.

The Jets defense was not taking any prisoners! The Texans supposedly have one of the best offenses this year, but that didn’t stop the Jets. Houston was only able to get a total of 183 yards against the New York Jets defense.

Steve Slaton, Texans running back, was only able to attain 17 yards on 9 carries. Andre Johnson, Texans wide receiver, only had 35 yards on 4 receptions.

The New York Jets have a big game on Sunday, September 20 against the New England Patriots.

Saturday night’s preseason game between the New York Jets and the New York Giants was a close one. Rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez, guided the way for the New York Jets’ 27-25 victory over the New York Giants.

This was Mark Sanchez’s first game since the big decision on Wednesday. Although Sanchez has improved over his last game, it’s hard to say if the decision was a good one or not considering this was only a preseason game. Sanchez completed 10 of 16 passes in the first half for a touchdown and over 115 yards, justifying Coach Ryan’s instincts. It will be exciting to see if the Jets’ head coach, Rex Ryan, made the right choice when the season starts on September 13.

As Sanchez could not have been much more on point, Eli Manning had a tough time with his receivers. Out of twenty-one attempts, he only made nine completions. However, it was not only Mannings fault! The receivers were not always where they needed to be. Also, when Manning through a pass for 60 yards down the middle second year receiver, Steve Smith, dropped the perfectly thrown pass.

Mark Sanchez, a rookie from the University of Southern California, has just been chosen as the starting quarterback for the New York Jets. First year head coach, Rex Ryan, delivered the news of his tough decision that Mark Sanchez won the starting quarterback job to replace Brett Favre over Kellen Clemens on Wednesday.

At a private workout in Southern California in March, Sanchez caught the Jets’ attention. This is where Coach Rex Ryan found his quarterback. In April, the Jets traded up to take him with the fifth pick in the NFL draft.

Rex Ryan’s decision was certainly not an easy one! Statistically Sanchez and Clemens were performing as well as each other in two pre-season games. Although Mark Sanchez struggled a little bit in the game against the Baltimore Ravens, he has slightly outperformed Clemens.

Sanchez has a tough series of games ahead. On September 13, the Jets will open their regular season against the Houston Texans. He will rely on his tight ends, wide receivers, and the entire New York Jets team when they play at home against New England and Tennessee, then at New Orleans and Miami.

After seemingly owning the AFC East crown, it’s starting to look like the Jets are going to have to earn the right to the playoffs as there is now a three-way tie atop the division with the Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots all locked at 8-5 with three games left to play before the playoffs begin.

It could easily come down to the final week as well, when the Jets and Miami face off with a possible division title on the line. Prior to that game, the Jets face Buffalo and Seattle, two very winnable games, but by no means “gimmes”.

Miami’s remaining games are against San Francisco, Kansas City, and the Jets; while New England closes their season out with Oakland, Arizona, and Buffalo. Whatever happens, the AFC East has been extremely fun to watch this year.
Mississippi is a small southern state that doesn’t generally get too much love when it comes to providing college football players to the pros. The three major universities in the state haven’t really accomplished much in the last 40 or 50 years and not too many enormous names have sprung to the NFL out of the state. Or have they?

Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, Steve McNair, and Deuce McAllister all came out of the state of Mississippi, as did both current NFL quarterbacks in New York. Both the Giants Eli Manning and the Jets Brett Favre are Mississippi products who have excelled in their positions for varied lengths of time.

Both the Jets (behind Favre) and the Giants (behind Manning) are leading their prospective divisions and could possibly be on a collision course for the Super Bowl.

No doubt that this season’s biggest story was “How would Brett Favre fair in a new uniform?” and the concerns were legitimate as the Jets started the season on a rather mediocre note, while Favre’s former team, Green Bay started strong under new QB Aaron Rodgers.

But despite their respective starts, it looks like the two teams roles have reversed in the past few weeks, as Green Bay just finished up their huge win against formerly undefeated Tennessee, while Green Bay took a Monday night thumping from New Orleans, who put up their highest offensive output ever.

While it still remains to be seen exactly what will happen, it seems as though Favre’s Jets are on their way to an AFC east title, while Rodger’s Packers only lead 0-11 Detroit in a very mediocre NFC North conference.

If you want to see for yourself, just grab some New York Jets tickets and check out the NFL’s iron man for yourself.

The Titans have been the team to watch so far this year, running up a 10-0 tally to remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL. Though they never did it by dominating anyone, they were able to run up an impressive string of victories to set themselves apart as the NFLs best.

That is until the New York Jets came to town and did a number on the Titans in a 34-13 route. Brett Favre led the way for the Jets with 224 yards on 25-32 passing and two TDs, while Thomas Jones got 27 touches for 96 yards and a score. Leon Washington came off the bench in the 4th quarter to score two TDs of 61 and 4 yards to cap off the Jets offensive showing.

Look for the Jets to make their move now to pull away from New England, Miami, and Buffalo to take the AFC East title. Grab some NY Jets tickets, and join them for the ride.

Most fans knew that Brett Favre’s signing would give the Jets a better team. Leadership on and off the field, experience, a solid arm, and an iron man streak makes Favre a great acquisition by the Jets to replace Chad Pennington. But what people didn’t expect, was that this year’s version of the Jets would be 7-3 and all alone in the lead in the AFC East.

Not only has Favre proven that he still has what it takes, but Thomas Jones, Laverneus Coles, and other contributors have given the Jets a very solid football team that have put last year’s abysmal season well behind them going into the home stretch of the season.

The Dolphins, Patriots, and Bills are all within easy striking distance of the Jets, but it is Mangini’s Jets who have managed to win the big games, play aggressively, and stave off the oncoming attacks to hold on to the division lead.

Only time will tell if the Jets can hang on, but for now, grab some NY Jets Tickets and watch Favre’s boys give it all they’ve got!

The New York Jets took first place in the brutal AFC east last night despite being on the other end of a career night from New England’s Matt Cassel. Brett Favre’s Jets played its typical high powered offense as Favre put up 258 yards passing with two touchdowns and no turnovers, and out-of-nowhere running back Thomas Jones amassed another 100 yard game with a touchdown.

But the real story of the game, was New England QB Matt Cassel. After getting his first opportunity to start since High School, Cassel has struggled to prove himself over the past 8 weeks, but he announced his presence with authority last night racking up 400 yards passing and three touchdowns.

Cassel’s efforts were enough to carry the team as they took the Jets into overtime before giving up a FG in the sudden death overtime period. The Jets now have the division lead, but there’s a lot of football left to play. Grab some New York Jets tickets and be a part of the best division in the NFL.

Coming off an impressive win, against the re-struggling Rams, the New York Jets will face one of their biggest challenges of the year in an unfamiliar New England team. Regardless of the failed expectations of New England’s fans and the more-or-less happiness of the Jets fans, this game is an absolute toss up as Matt Cassel has been impressive in running the offense of New England.

In an AFC east division that is, at this point, anyone’s this game could be huge for creating separation and giving one team the inside track to the division title and a springboard into the playoffs.

The Jets and Pats have been bitter rivals and tensions heated up in 2007 among allegations of New England staffers filming the Jets using the film to learn offensive schemes that may have given them an unfair advantage.

As New England attempts to defend its AFC title, look for most of its stiffest competition to come from within its own division as the 6-3 Pats face off against, the 6-3 Jets, while the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins lurk at 5-4. Grab New York Jets tickets now and cheer on the AFC team of your choice.

New York Jets fans are known for being slightly rambunctious if not over critical of their players and their beloved team. No more evident was this than on Sunday when thousands of fans were heard jeering and booing quarterback Brett Favre after a sub-par performance in the first three quarters of their game against Kansas City.

Favre threw three interceptions in the first three quarters of the game, as the Jets trailed 24-21 early in the fourth quarter. Favre apparently took the boos as motivation, as he swiftly led the Jets downfield on a scoring drive that gave the Jets the 28-14 win.

Fans have always known that Favre can, at times, have a bit of a control problem, but his also a leader on the field and can make huge plays when the time is right. Fans with Jets tickets will undoubtedly continue to have their ups and downs in terms of their adoration for Favre, but for now it seems as though he’s capable of using disgruntled fans as motivation.

To say the Kansas City Chiefs are struggling would be a huge understatement. Not only have the Chiefs only managed one victory this year, they have lost their last two games by a combined score of 68-10. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Quarterback Brody Croyle left during last week’s game and is expected to miss “several” weeks. This QB situation is compounded by the Chiefs lack of any “quality” backups who could help get them through the rut.

The Chiefs were rumored to have contacted retired Dolphins/Vikings QB Donte Culpepper this week in order to help them fill their gaping QB void. However, they wouldn’t have him ready in time for this week’s game against the New York Jets.

Speaking of the Jets, they are looking forward to this weekend’s matchup with the Chiefs with cautious anticipation. Conventional wisdom would say that a home game against one of the worst teams in the NFL would be a proverbial cake walk, however the Jets know that their 3-3 record is nothing to be overly confident in. In fact, they themselves just lost to a perennial cellar-dweller in Oakland last Sunday.

In a game that means a lot for both teams – the Jets need to pull out of mediocrity while the Chiefs need to end their skid and establish some more confidence, particularly in their offense without Croyle. As always, paper doesn’t matter. They’ll have to play it out on the field. Make sure and watch.

The New York Jets were the beneficiaries of the off-season’s biggest move, as the acquired Brett Favre, fresh off of his “divorce” with Green Bay. The addition of the seasoned veteran QB has been a huge lift for the team which has begun the season with a 2-2 record with their only losses coming to New England and San Diego, the two teams that played for the AFC championship last year.

In their week 4 game against Arizona, the Jets offense put up 56 points, as Favre put up 6 touch downs, his highest offensive production of his long and accomplished career. The win against Arizona proved that Favre could easily adapt to the Jets style of play and would not be hampered by any inability to adjust from the Green Bay offensive schemes that he spend so many years running.

The Jets are probably the best 2-2 team in the AFC and are looking to improve on that mark in week six against a winless Cincinnati team that has been playing exponentially better in the past couple of weeks. As the season continues, look for Favre to continue to gain comfort in the Jets offense, and if Eric Mangini will continue to allow Brett to be himself, expect great things from the J-E-T-S this winter.

Grab some New York Jets tickets and watch Favre, Laveranues Coles, and Thomas Jones try and separate themselves from the AFC East and the rest of the Conferences elite teams.
