New York Giants Playoff Tickets Available Now

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

The Giants secured a playoff spot in front of a crowd of 81,077 at MetLife Stadium with a 31-14 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes, including a 74-yarder to Victor Cruz.

Manning completed 24 of 33 passes for 346 yards with no interceptions. He was able to end his mostly inconsistent season on a high note. Manning finished the season with 4,933 yards passing with 29 TDs against 16 interceptions.

Cruz, set a single-season record for yards receiving, finished with 178 yards and six catches, an average of 29.7 yards.

The Dallas Cowboys lost four of their final five games. New York won three of its final four games and the loss left the Cowboys (8-8) out of the playoffs for the second straight year.

With a 9-7 record, the NFC East champions will face the wild-card Falcons (10-6) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at MetLife Stadium. Based on their performances against the Jets and the Cowboys, it appears the Giants just might have a good playoff run.

“I think we’re in the perfect position,’’ linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka said. “We didn’t get here the way that we wanted to, but regardless of what has happened during the season we’re in the playoffs, we won our division and we have a chance at the Super Bowl. Once you’re in, the slate’s wiped clean and this team is ready to play.’’

Giants Win The Battle of New York

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

Christmas came early this year for the New York Giants with a 29-14 victory over the NY Jets on Christmas Eve. This victory also gave the Giants bragging rights as the winner of the “Battle of New York.”

“I hate to use that cliche, but this is a huge one,” left tackle David Diehl said. “This is about the city, the city of New York and what team wants to be responsible. They have talked all week and said what they wanted to say. From Day 1, they’re our big brother and other stuff. We went out there and played our game and showed whose stadium this is.”

The Giants had their first 99-yard play in franchise history on a touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz. Cruz, who had three catches for 164 yards, broke Amani Toomer’s single-season mark for yards receiving.

With this win the Giants are 8-7, which puts them in the running for the NFC East title. The deciding game will be the Giants’ season finale against the Dallas Cowboys on New Year’s night at 8:20PM in MetLife Stadium.

With the loss, the Jets find themselves fighting for an AFC Wildcard spot. The Jets need a win against the Miami Dolphins next week. In addition to this win, they will also need some help from several other teams on order to remain alive in the post-season.

The Jets need the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans and either one of the Oakland Raiders or Denver Broncos to lose (combined with a Jets victory over Miami) to reach the playoffs.

Each team still has a shot, find New York Giants tickets today and see them battle Dallas Sunday night for the NFC East title.

NY Giants Need to Rebound

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

After a 17-10 loss to the Eagles, their NFC East divisional rivals, the Giants are on a two-game losing streak and are heading into a Monday night meeting at New Orleans. The Giants are tied with Dallas for the lead in the division but if they don’t improve their running game they could be well on their way to a second-half collapse, which seems to be the norm in recent years. In 2009 the Giants started the season 5-0 and ended 8-8. Last season they opened 6-2 and ended with a 10-6 record, losing two out of the three final games.

The Giants have six games left in the regular season so they need to pull themselves together quickly. However, with their upcoming schedule, it may not be that easy of a task to pull off. After the Monday night meeting with New Orleans (7-3), the Giants return home for a meeting against the undefeated Green Bay Packers (10-0).

“It’s put up or shut up,” Rolle said. “At the end of the day, I am not trying to be sitting at home come the first week of January, watching these other teams that I know are not better than us go on. We’re a great team. We know we’re a great team. We have to go out there and prove it.”

The fans know and the New York Giants know that they are better than the game vs Philadelphia indicates but they’re going to have to really bring it in the closing weeks to hold on to first place and reach the playoffs. I think they can do it, do you? Let us know what you think in the comments below and head over here if you’re looking for New York Giants tickets.

Giants Win Home Opener

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Mother Monster, Lady Gaga, was spotted enjoying the New York Giants crush the St. Louis Rams on Monday at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. Gaga showed love for her team by rocking a Giants hat mismatched with a classy dress, and poured out a glass of champagne during the fourth quarter in honor of their 28-16 victory.

Monday night’s win was exactly what the Giants needed, especially after a poor performance and disappointing loss in their season opener against the Washington Redskins. Two of New York’s touchdowns were completed passes by Eli Manning. Manning slipped away with one interception while completing 18 of 29 passes for 200 yards.

The final Giants’ touchdown spawned from a crucial mistake by the Rams. The Rams opened the gate to New York’s victory by playing carelessly and fumbling the ball. Michael Boley took full advantage of this mistake, and scored an essential touchdown on a 65-yard fumble return.

The Giants are entering the NFL’s third week where they will compete against Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. The New York Giants will play their next game against the Eagles at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, September 25.

NY Giants Tickets on Sale as Lockout End Draws Near

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

It seems as though the NFL’s four-month lockout will be coming to an end very quickly. Although the deal has not officially been done, the owners and players of the NFL are moving towards ending the lockout any day now.

On Tuesday a settlement draft was finalized in order to be presented to the players and owners on Wednesday. The legal teams worked diligently in order for the document to be able to be under review, and possibly approved. The deal will first be presented to a group of 13 men called the NFL Players Association executive committee, as well as the NFL labor committee and its 10 man backing.

The goal of Wednesday’s review is ultimately for the group to seek a deal approval from the NFL players. The agreement set forth would need a majority vote from close to 2,000 players in the National Football League.

Will the current deal in the works be sufficient enough to end the four month NFL lockout?

If so, the New York Giants will play their first preseason game  against the Carolina Panthers on August 13, 2011 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

Giants Playoff Chances Update

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Two weeks ago, the New York Giants lost the opportunity to set themselves up to be the winners of the NFC East. On December 19, New York was leading by 21-points in the fourth-quarter, but ended up losing 38-31 to the Philadelphia Eagles during the very last seconds of the game.

Unfortunately for the Giants, they were unable to pull it together in order to recover from that devastating loss. Instead, they lost their game in Green Bay on Sunday against the packers by a huge margin. In New York’s 45-17 loss they played extremely lousy, and allowed a season-high of 515 yards. Becacuse of this loss, the Giants were unable to secure a wild-card slot.

If the Giants want to reach the postseason, they will first have to defeat the Washington Redskins. In their last five games against the Redskins, New York has won all five. A sixth straight will not guarantee them into the playoffs, as the Giants also need the Chicago Bears to beat the Green Bay Packers if they want to make a playoff appearance this season.

The New York Giants are headed to Washington where they will face the Redskins on Sunday, January 2, 2010.

NY Giants Look to Make the Playoffs

Friday, December 24th, 2010

It’s that time of year. Week 16 of the regular NFL season has begun, and the New York Giants are on a mission. On Sunday the Giants will face the Green Bay Packers, as both teams fight for that Wild Card spot that will guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.

Although the Giants are looking to secure a win on Sunday to ensure their Wild Card spot, they could still win the NFC East. The 9-5 Giants are currently second in the NFC East only to the Eagles. If the Giants win their last two games and the Eagles lose their last two, then the Giants will successfully control the NFC East.

Worst case scenario: the Giants do not make the playoffs. This could happen if the Packers are victorious this week, and also beat the Bears during their last game in Chicago. If the Packers lose to Chicago, and the Giants beat the Washington Redskins, then the Giants are in luck.

Although New York is still picking up the pieces from last week’s devastating and surprising loss to the Eagles, they will need to shake those bitter memories off in order to make this win happen.

The New York Giants will play their next game in Green Bay, Wisconsin against the Packers on Sunday, December 26, 2010.

NY Giants WR Steve Smith Injured

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Over the past month the New York Giants have had many injured players, which has caused them a few problems along the way. A partially torn pectoral muscle has left wide receiver Steve Smith out of four games. He returned to the game in Monday night’s 21-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings, only to leave the game facing another injury.

The injury was to cartilage in his knee, and will require surgery along with a lengthy rehabilitation period. The season ending knee injury occurred during the fourth quarter of Monday’s game. The injury could possibly even set back his return to training for the 2011-2012 season.

The bad luck surrounding the Giants’ receivers this season has been less than favorable. Now the Giants will have to face their division rivals on Sunday. Since both teams are tied in the NFC east with 9 wins and 4 losses each, this game will be a fight for the top spot.

As far as losing Smith goes, the Giants will have to work with what they have. The top receivers Eli Manning will be looking for now include Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks, although they are both struggling with injuries as well. Manningham left Monday’s game with a hip injury, and Nicks just returned but admitted to feeling sore after Monday night. Manning will also be looking to Derek Hagan, Devin Thomas, and Michael Clayton to make some amazing receptions against Philadelphia.

The New York Giants will host their next game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, December 19, 2010.

NY Giants Offensive Line Still Strong Despite Injuries

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

Numerous injuries on the New York Giants over the past month have caused the team to make a few changes to their offensive line. On Sunday the Giants proved that this has not negatively affected them with their 31-7 win over the Washington Redskins.

Quarterback Eli Manning has shown great strength even with the loss of the injured offensive players, as he has not been sacked in last five games. In Sunday’s game against the Redskins, Manning threw 48 passes without taking a single sack. With only 12 this season, he has the fewest sacks in the league.

Offensive lineman David Diehl and wide receiver Steve Smith are both practicing this week. Head coach Tom Coughlin said that he is anticipating their return on Sunday against the Vikings.

Smith has been out for four games in a row. Last week, his strained pectoral muscle enabled him only to do limited work such as catching passes. Although he knows that his injury will limit him for the rest of the season, he is hoping to play against Minnesota this Sunday.

Coughlin is unsure of the status of wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. After being treated for compartment syndrome two weeks ago, it is still unknown when he will be cleared to return to practice.

The New York Giants will travel to Minnesota to play their next game against the Vikings on Sunday, December 12.

NY Giants Attempt to Fill Receiver Void

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

A little over two weeks ago, the New York Giants were coming off of five straight wins, and worked their way to the top of the NFC East with a 6-2 record. Now, with all three of the receivers who helped get them to that point sidelined for injuries, the team must find ways to fill this void.

Hakeem Nicks took the latest blow on Monday when he was treated for compartment syndrome. The injury occurred in his lower right leg, and is a condition where swelling compresses nerves and blood vessels. According to Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin, the treatment on Monday afternoon included a fasciotomy to relieve the tension and pressure.

Steve Smith is a receiver that Nicks will be joining on the injury report. The Giants second-leading receiver is expected to at least miss Sunday’s game, and it will remain in question if he will be able to play on December 5th when the Giants face the Redskins. With a partially torn pectoral muscle Smith will have limits as to what he can do even if when he returns to the game.

Combined, Nicks and Smith have been a major powerhouse with 98 catches, 1,170 yards, and 12 touchdowns. The Giants will have to rely on Mario Manningham and Derek Hagan to make up for their loss.

The New York Giants will host their next game at the New Meadowlands Stadium against the Jaguars on Sunday, November 28, 2010.
