This past weekend, the best and brightest players of the National Basketball Association gathered in Los Angeles for the 2011 All-Star Game. The weekend was jam-packed with exciting basketball events including a slam-dunk and three point shoot out contest, which all lead up to the headlining NBA All-Star Game.
Kobe Bryant lead the Western Conference to a 148-143 victory over the Eastern Conference in his 13th NBA All-Star appearance. Kobe did work at the Staples Center during Sunday’s game, by scoring a game-high of 37 points along with 14 rebounds. He also won the most valuable player honor, and became one of only two players ever to win four All-Star MVP trophies.
Next year, the All-Star Game will leave L.A. and take over Central Florida. Well… partly. February 26, 2012 will be a big day for sports, as well as the state of Florida. Not only will the 2012 NBA-All Star game be held in Orlando, but the Daytona 500 will take over Daytona Beach on the same day.
The 2012 NBA All-Star Game will be held on Sunday, February 26 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

With less than a month to go until the 2011 NBA All-Star Game, all starters from the Eastern and Western Conferences have finally been announced. It’s only fitting that Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant had the highest amount of votes this year, and that the event will be played on the team’s home floor at the Staples Center.
Kobe received 2.4 million votes, and will serve as the Western Conference’s starting guard along with Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. The Western Conference starters joining them will be forwards Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Yao Ming was also chosen as the team’s center, but unfortunately he is injured. His replacement will be chosen soon by David Stern, commissioner of the NBA. Leading the team will be head coach Greg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs.
Also, it looks as though Kobe Bryant will have a fierce matchup on All-Star weekend against Miami Heat forward LeBron James. Joining LeBron as a forward for the Easter Conference will be Amare Stoudemire of the New York Knicks. Completing the starting players will be another Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, and Orlando Magic Center Dwight Howard.
The 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend will begin with the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday, February 18, 2011. The All Star Game will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2011.

Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers is regarded as one of the most well-rounded players in the National Basketball Association. He has been able to attain a gold medal at the FIBA World Championship over the summer, and two NBA championships. However, in all of his 12 years as a member of the NBA this 6-foot-10 lefty has never made a trip to the All Star Game.
Fortunately for Odum, this may be about to change. Last Thursday the NBA released the ballots for the 2011 All-Star game, and Odum was one of six Lakers who made the list.
Joining him on the ballet are two players who have also never been on the All-Star team including Derek Fisher and Andrew Bynum. One-time All Star Ron Artest made it on the ballet, as well as three-time All-Star Pau Gasol. Finally, 12-time All-Star Kobe Bryant is the last Laker on the ballot.
The Lakers have began the season 13-4, and Odum has contributed a large part to their success. Odum is currently averaging 3.7 assists, 10.8 rebounds, and 14.9 points per game. He is at the top of the league in field goal percentage, rebounds, and 3-point percentage.
The 2011 NBA All-Star Game will be held on Sunday, February 20 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
