Experience the exciting Rodeo action in person at the 2009 National Finals Rodeo. The NFR is held on Thursday, December 3 through Saturday, December 12.
The National Finals Rodeo has a long history since it’s first year in 1959. It was originally held in Texas, then was moved to Los Angeles, and then Oklahoma City. The first year that NFR was held in Las Vegas was 1985.
Each year since then the National Finals Rodeo is held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and this year is no exception. This hosts the best Cowboys, Bull Riders, and some of the biggest Country music stars.
This Rodeo lasts 10 days and includes 7 exciting competitive events. The 7 events are: saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, barrel racing, bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, and team-down roping. From these events, 8 world champions are crowned. There is a winner for each of the events, and there is an overall champion who participated in more than one event.
Over 170,000 guests will come to the Thomas and Mack center during the 10 days of this event to see the National Finals Rodeo. The Thomas and Mack Center reaches capacity every night during the duration of the rodeo. Since this venue is relatively small, and can only host 18,000 people, many must watch the exciting action on TV. You could see this live Rodeo action in person.
