Million Dollar Quartet on Broadway
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009The Million Dollar Quartet is coming to Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre in New York City. The production has been playing for almost a year in Chicago with fantastic reviews, and the New York previews will begin on March 13, 2010. The Million Dollar Quartet will officially open on April 11, 2010.
This Broadway musical is based on a recording session which brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, and Carl Perkins together. December 4, 1956 was the date that Sam Phillips brought this incredible foursome together at the Sun Records studio in Memphis, Tennessee. This impromptu recording session and the uniting of these four legends made this recording session one of the greatest rock jams of all time.
The Million Dollar Quartet will feature some of the greatest country, rock ‘n’ roll, gospel, and R&B songs from each of these legendary performers. These songs include “I Walk the Line,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Whole Lotta’ Shakin’ Goin’ On,” and more.
