Yesterday we saw that tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway were the highest selling tickets on our Top 5 Events list. It’s no surprise that tickets to this weirdly wonderful show are a hot item, especially because each of the iconic members of the family are played by an amazing cast member. The producers of the show are hoping that losing such popular stars will not affect the success of the musical.

As advertising for this new musical began, the producers focused more on the famous branding of the Addams family. They paid close attention to highlighting the characters, such as Morticia and Gomez, who we learned to love from pages of The New Yorker, rather than the star actors portraying those parts. The producers were hoping to make the transition easier for new actors to take over the lead roles in March when the current stars are expected to leave.

The show’s producers are already looking for new stars to take over for the leading couple. Unfortunately the show has not found their new lead couple yet, as John Leguizamo and Minnie Driver have both turned down the opportunity to portray Gomez and Morticia.

Despite the search for a new leads, two time Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth currently star as the wonderfully weird couple at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City.

The Broadway musical production is based on this wonderfully weird family that is put to the test when outsiders come to dinner. This puts the whole family in the position to have a night that will change them forever.

This new show was created by Rick Elice and Marshall Brickman, most known for creating Jersey Boys, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. The Addams Family will be directed by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch.

Talented actors and two-time Tony winners, Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth are to star as Gomez and Morticia Addams. Joining them will be Krysta Rodriguez as Wednesday, Adam Riegler as Pugsly, Jackie Hoffman as Grandmama, Terrence Mann as Mal Beineke, and Kevin Chamberlin as Uncle Fester.
