New York Jets in Fight for First Place

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

The New York Jets are in a three-way tie atop the AFC East, along with the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills. If the Jets want to be in control of the division race, they must win when they face the Patriots on Sunday night for the second time this season at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets recently reestablished themselves as a running team. However, Sanchez’s efficiency is now up. During the first four weeks of the season, Sanchez completed 55.1 percent of his passes and had a passer rating of 75.9. Over the four games since, Sanchez’s completion percentage jumped up to 60.7 and his passer rating was 94.7 — second in the AFC for that time frame, behind Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger.

Last week in a 27-11 win over the Bills, New York ran the ball 39 times for 126 yards. The Jets were able to hold the football for over a full quarter longer (15 minutes, 44 seconds) than Buffalo. This season, the Jets are 4-0 when they have run the ball at least 26 times.

“Early in the year, we were doing a lot of run-action and it just wasn’t getting the sell that we wanted because we weren’t running the ball as well,” Sanchez said. “Once the running game becomes a huge factor like it is right now, teams are trying to get another hat in there, another player in there to stop the run, and that’s opened things up on the outside.”

This is a battle for tops in the division; you don’t want to miss this game!

New York Rangers Playing Well

Friday, November 11th, 2011

The New York Rangers extended their winning streak to 5 on Wednesday night with a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators. This fifth straight win for the Rangers was also the fourth loss in a row for Ottawa. Extending his point streak to 4 games, Marian Gaborik scored twice. Derek Stepan had a goal and two assists. The Rangers’ top line of Artem Anisimov, Derek Stepan and Marian Gaborik combined for all seven of the Rangers’ points.

“I think we feel pretty good out there,” Gaborik said. “Arty and Step are playing with a lot of confidence. We scored a couple of goals off great forechecks by those guys. Hopefully we can keep it up.”

The Rangers were outshot by Ottawa, 31-19. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 29 shots for New York (8-3-3), which hit the road for the first time since a 4-1-1 homestand. This was Lundqvist’s fifth win of the season. The Rangers haven’t lost since Oct. 29 when Ottawa rallied from a third period three-goal deficit and won 5-4 in a shootout.

Daniel Alfredsson, the Senators captain, missed his fifth straight game because of a concussion. Alfredsson was injured on a hit to the head by Rangers forward Wojtek Wolski when the teams previously met. The hit drew a minor penalty for Wolski but no supplemental discipline.

Sean Avery had his first fight of the season when gloves were dropped in the first period against Zenon Konopka, a former Islander. Konopka leads the league with 59 penalty minutes.

NJ Devils Rookie Making a Name for Himself

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Adam Henrique scored game-winning goals in two straight games, becoming the first Devils’ rookie to do this since Patrik Elias in 1997. Henrique was recalled from Albany on Oct. 22nd and has since had four goals in the last 3 Devils’ games.

“The kid has a knack for big goals,” coach Pete DeBoer said. “He’s got the personality where pressure situations don’t seem to faze him.”

With injuries to center Travis Zajac (left Achilles tendon) and Jacob Josefson (broken right clavicle) Henrique was given the opportunity to show exactly why the Devils made him their third-round choice in the 2008 Draft.

Henrique has also proven to be an asset in many other ways. He has blocked 10 shots, delivered nine hits and won 54 of 104 draws (51.9 percent) in 10 games this season.

“I’m comfortable with the position I play and having linemates like Zach is great,” Henrique said. “He can stay down low … he knows what I’m going to do and we fill in for each other. That’s another thing that contributes to our success as a line. We can all play every position, there’s nothing to worry about when we are switched.”

Henrique finished with a team-leading 25 goals and was second with 50 points in 73 games with the Devils’ American Hockey League affiliate in Albany last season. He won back-to-back Memorial Cup titles with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League in 2009 and ’10. Henrique also won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Championship.

New York Rangers Bring Sean Avery to New MSG

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

After demoting super pest Sean Avery to the minors during a pre-season trip to Europe, the New York Rangers have recalled the agitator from the AHL Connecticut Whale.

Being a veteran, Avery had to pass through re-entry waivers. While there was slight concern the rival New York Islanders might put in a claim just for PR purposes, Avery cleared through all the other teams in the league and is back on the New York Rangers’ roster. Avery is not expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Rangers faceoff against the Anaheim Ducks as head coach John Tortorella understandably wants to stick with a winning lineup. The Rangers convincingly defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2 on Monday.

Avery may return to the lineup Saturday night at Madison Square Garden versus Original Six rivals the Montreal Canadiens. The New York Rangers fans are largely split on their opinion of Avery.

There are fans who believe he is overrated and a distraction, having scored only 3 goals last year and spending a large amount of his time in the penalty box. Other fans see him for the galvanizing force that he can be at times, playing his rambunctious style to liven the crowd and inspire his team.

Either way, you can bet that Sean Avery’s return to MSG will not be uneventful!

New York Rangers tickets are an interesting item this year for fans of the Broadway Blueshirts as Madison Square Garden is in the midst of a renovation.

The seating has changed, the lockerrooms and the concessions and bathrooms have all undergone a makeover.

So if you love the New York Rangers or just seeing hockey in general, snag yourself some New York Rangers tickets!

New York Rangers Back at Madison Square Garden

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Following a seven game road trip to open the season which took them from Sweden to Long Island to western Canada and finally back to Manhattan, the New York Rangers had their first home game at Madison Square Garden last night. Undergoing major renovations for the next few years, Phase I of the Madison Square Garden makeover is complete and ready to host the Broadway Blueshirts for the 2011-2012 season.

While the homecoming was a disappointing 4-2 loss to fellow Original Six team the Toronto Maple Leafs, the NY Rangers are glad to be off the road and back in New York. Their next home game is tomorrow afternoon, a 3pm start versus the Ottawa Senators. Surely a bid road-weary, the Rangers hope to put the loss to Toronto behind them and get back on the winning side of the ledger.

Star goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been strong in the early goings this season and sniper Marian Gaborik has been the best forward on the team. All Star defenseman Marc Staal is out with post-concussion symptoms and cannot be counted on returning to the lineup anytime soon. In his absence, Dan Girardi has stepped up his game to hold down the blueline but he cannot do it alone. If Staal is going to be out much longer, the Rangers are going to have to look to make a trade for a top 4 defenseman to take his place in the lineup.

Aside from Gaborik, newly acquired center Brad Richards has played well and team captain Ryan Callahan has been his usual physical self. Brandon Prust and Brian Boyle continue their strong play from last season and Ruslan Fedotenko has done everything the team has asked of him and performed well. The rest of the top six forwards need to pick up the scoring however if the Rangers are going to have a shot at going anywhere this season. They need their top two lines to be offensive threats and the power play must be better than last season.

With Ludqvist in goal, a healthy Gaborik and a productive Richards, this team has the potential to go places and fans at Madison Square Garden know it. Among the most passionate fans in hockey, New York Rangers fans do not let the team take a night off. The atmosphere at the revamped Garden is going to be electric as fans sense this team is ready to take the next step into the upper echelon of NHL clubs.

Be among the frenzied crowd at MSG this year and find New York Rangers tickets today.

NHL Winter Classic Tickets On Sale

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

NHL fans in the New York and Philadephia area are preparing for the event of the year, the 2012 NHL Winter Classic featuring the NY Rangers vs Philadelphia Flyers. Scheduled for January 2 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadephia, the NHL Winter Classic is the premiere regular season game of the year for the NHL, fans love it!

The Flyers are on fire so far this season. With new goalie Ilya Bryzgalov solidifying a traditionally weak position on the team and veteran star Jaromir Jagr playing well up front, the Flyers new additions teamed with some great youth have propelled them to the top of the standings so far.

The Rangers are off to a slow start this season but have lost 3 games by a total of 4 goals, including a shootout in which they could’ve won with a goal from any of their first 3 shooters.

Despite their slow start, the Rangers are also pretty deep this season. They brought in Brad Richards, one of the best centers in the NHL, to bolster the first line and man the point on the power play. So far Richards has performed well and with superstar goaltender Henrik Lunqvist between the pipes, the Rangers can win on any given night.

The rivalry between these two teams goes back to the 1960s when the Flyers joined the league. Through the years there have been countless memorable moments between these teams. Be there for the next great memory, find Winter Classic tickets today.

Jets vs Dolphins Ticket Prices at Low Point

Friday, September 30th, 2011

New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins ticket prices at an all time low for their upcoming game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Traditionally this game is one of the strongest and most popular games on the schedule for the Jets, as it is an AFC East rivalry matchup.

But with Miami off to a poor start and Jets coming off a disappointing loss to the Raiders, ticket prices for this game are at an all-time low starting at just $75 each for tickets with a face value of $95.

In New York, expectations were high coming into this season but the loss to the Raiders has some fans concerned about the team already. Another loss early in the season would likely put coach Rex Ryan in the hot seat with the local sports talk shows if he isn’t already.

Through the years the Jets and Dolphins have fought some epic battles on the field. There’s been a number of memorable games between the teams and overall, the Jets hold a slim lead in the all-time series with a record of 47-43-1.

So if you are a fan of either team and anxious to see this Monday Night matchup, now is the time to order tickets.

NY Rangers vs Philadelphia Flyers in 2012 Winter Classic

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Last week, 2012 Winter Classic Tickets were the hottest tickets on SelectATicket.com. Rightfully so, as the Winter Classic has become a January tradition for the National Hockey League. The tradition also entails taking the game to its outdoor roots, this time in Pennsylvania for the second year in a row.

Last year’s Winter Classic held on New Year’s Day was at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field and featured the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Buffalo Sabres. This year Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park will host a cut throat hockey game between the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, January 2, 2012.

This year’s Classic will be reigniting a fierce rivalry within the Atlantic Division. The Rangers and Flyers will meet twice during the regular season, both in New York City, before duking it out on January 2 in Philadelphia.

The Rangers may feel as though they have much more to prove, given the recent history between the two teams. Back in 2010 the Flyers made it to the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, which can be attributed to their huge win over the Rangers on the last day of the regular season.

The 2012 NHL Winter Classic featuring the New York Rangers against the Philadelphia Flyers will be held on Monday, January 2 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA.

Giants Win Home Opener

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Mother Monster, Lady Gaga, was spotted enjoying the New York Giants crush the St. Louis Rams on Monday at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. Gaga showed love for her team by rocking a Giants hat mismatched with a classy dress, and poured out a glass of champagne during the fourth quarter in honor of their 28-16 victory.

Monday night’s win was exactly what the Giants needed, especially after a poor performance and disappointing loss in their season opener against the Washington Redskins. Two of New York’s touchdowns were completed passes by Eli Manning. Manning slipped away with one interception while completing 18 of 29 passes for 200 yards.

The final Giants’ touchdown spawned from a crucial mistake by the Rams. The Rams opened the gate to New York’s victory by playing carelessly and fumbling the ball. Michael Boley took full advantage of this mistake, and scored an essential touchdown on a 65-yard fumble return.

The Giants are entering the NFL’s third week where they will compete against Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. The New York Giants will play their next game against the Eagles at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, September 25.
