The New York Giants will begin training camp on Sunday, and defensive end Osi Umenyiora is expected to be on the field regardless of an injury he is suffering to his hip. Even though the injury may eventually need surgery, Umenyiora will be in Albany for training camp when it opens.

In 2006 Umenyiora suffered from a torn hip flexor, and got a second opinion regarding his injury in early July. Jerry Reese, the general manager for the Giants gave confirmation to the fact that Umenyiora was cleared to begin practicing. He also confirmed that the doctors for the Giants said Umenyiora would most likely need surgery, but practicing with the injury would not make it worse.

After consulting with the Giants, the doctors, and the general manager, Umenyiora has made the decision to begin practicing. Reese told the Daily News, ”I’m assuming that if he needs to have the surgery and wants to have the surgery that he’ll do it sometime after the season. But our plan is for Osi to be ready to go at training camp.”

After being sidelined for most of the season because of wrist surgery, defending US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro is expected to play at this year’s open.

According to the US Tennis Association Del Potro is on the entry list for the Grand Slam tournament, and is expected to compete in the Open. In 2009 Del Potro beat Roger Federer, five-time US Open champion, and claimed his very first Grand Slam title. In 2010 Del Proto has only competed in one tournament, the Australian Open, due to surgery to his right wrist.

The US Open Tennis Tournament is one of four events that make up the Grand Slam for tennis. The Open is the final event, and perhaps the most important. Over 600 players will compete for a chance to win the $17 million in prize money.

Last year Juan Martin del Potro was the talented first place winner, and he is hoping for the same results this year as he enters the 2010 US Tennis Open.

The New York Red Bulls have a star from the Juventus Football Club who is hoping to join the team in a year’s time. Striker David Trezeguet has to ride out his final year remaining on his contract with Juventus before joining MLS.

Previously Trezeguet was linked with a summer exit, but as of now it seems as though he will be staying in Italy for the next season. However, according to his agent Trezeguet is making moves in order to team back up with Thierry Henry, his former France and Monaco teammate once his contract has ended.

Antonio Caliendo, Trezeguet’s agent spoke about his future plans and said, “we have received several offers and the one the player likes most is that of the New York Red Bulls. There he will meet up with (Thierry) Henry.”

Not only is Trezeguet showing interest in coming to the New York Red Bulls, but the Red Bulls are also one of the many teams interested in the Frenchman for when his contract expires. The New York Red Bulls will play their next match in Houston, Texas against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, July 31, 2010.

Major League Baseball is finding itself faced with a difficult decision regarding next year’s All Star game. The game is currently scheduled to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, but a new immigration law was passed that has many civil rights groups questioning the location.

The new law, effective July 29, says that police are required to determine a person’s legal status, and would also require immigrants to have documentation on them that confirms their immigration status is the cause of the uproar. Many civil rights groups, politicians, and even the MLB Players Association have condemned the new law.

In the hopes of moving next year’s All Star Game, civil rights groups have been working diligently by creating websites, and collecting over 100,000 signatures from fans who are in favor of moving the game. In addition, last week over 150 people protested in Manhattan outside of the MLB headquarters. While politicians and multiple civil rights groups have been pressuring the MLB and commissioner Bud Selig to move the game, the players’ union has not.

A former executive for MLB spoke about the decision making process and he said, “With the ownership there, it puts Bud in a very difficult position. You have X amount of people for it, X amount of people against it; it’s just a tough position.”

Not long after the New Jersey Devils and Ilya Kovalchuk agreed to an astounding 17-year, $102 million contract, the NHL rejected the deal. Just one day after agreeing to the longest contract in the history of the NHL, the league dealt a shameful blow to the Devils and Kovalchuk.

The NHL said the contract was used as a way to get around the salary cap for the league. The NHL sent the contract back to the Devils, where general manager Lou Lamoriello will have to rework the contract in order to satisfy the NHL and Kovalchuk all over again.

In the NHL, teams will pay a player more money up front when the player is usually a better asset to the team, and when the player is likely to have retired the team would then pay the player less. The Devils took advantage of this, as the majority of Kovalchuk’s contract would have been paid during the first 10 years of his 17-year long contract.

They would pay him $95 million during the first ten years, and during his last six seasons he would have been paid less than $1 million. The issue for the NHL was that the contract was formulated to where Kovalchuk’s cap would have been brought down to just $6 million a season for the devils.

On Saturday night the New York Mets lost their third straight game since opening the second half. The San Francisco Giants defeated them 8-4 as Mets’ pitcher Hisanori Takahashi showed his weakness by not being able to last three innings against the Giants.

The Giants scored six runs during the first three innings, which prompted manager Jerry Manuel to pull him from the game before the end of the third inning. Normally Manuel thinks of Takahashi as a good pitcher to have in the early innings of the games, but once the batters learn his style they are able to conquer it, and make it on the bases. His usual plan backfired on Saturday night as Takahashi struggled early on.

The Mets did not put points on the board until the top of the seventh inning when Davis scored his first homer of the night before scoring his second in the top of the ninth inning.

It seems as though the Mets are on a losing streak, but hopefully they will get out of their funk soon and start winning some games. The New York Mets will have their first chance to redeem themselves when they play their next game in San Francisco against the Giants on Sunday, July 18, 2010.

Free agent LeBron James seems to be the one of the most wanted players for both the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks. James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks, along with the coach and president attended a recruitment meeting on Thursday with the hopes of signing a contract with James.

The New Jersey Nets are looking to gain a couple major free agents this week. This group of free agents is the largest in the history of the NBA. Not only that, but many of the free agents are significant players that any team would be lucky to have.

On Tuesday night the New York Mets suffered a 7-6 loss against the Florida Marlins in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Tuesday’s game was the second game of a three game series, and the mets were looking for a win after Monday night when they suffered a more painful loss ending with a score of 10-3.

Jason Bay, in his first season with the Mets, hit a fly ball in the top of the first inning in order to bring in Angel Pagan. Pagan scored the first run of the game for the Mets, and during the top of the third inning the Mets were able to score two more runs making the score 3-0.

However, the Marlins put an end to their lead by scoring a total of six runs in the bottom of the third. The fourth, fifth, and sixth innings were scoreless until the Mets got another run in the top of the seventh. Despite the great fight by the New York Mets in the ninth inning, the Marlins proved to be unstoppable for the second night in a row. Dan Uggla hit a single, which allowed Jorge Cantu to score another one for the Marlins.

The Marlins may have won on Monday and Tuesday, but the New York Mets will have a chance to redeem themselves. The Mets will play their next and final game in this three game series against the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

Last Wednesday it was announced that the Kansas City Royals will host the 2012 All-Star game after many years of waiting. Bud Selig, the commissioner of Major League Baseball announced that Kauffman Stadium will be home to the All Star game that be held on Tuesday July 10, 2012.

In 2006 Kansas City was promised to host an All Star game between 2010-2014, but only if a tax vote was passed in order to pay for stadium renovations. Taxpayers agreed to the $275 million dollar improvements which were completed last year. Selig stuck to his promise, and the Kauffman Stadium is now the host of the 83rd Midsummer Classic.

The 2012 All Star Game will be the Royals’ second, and the city’s third time as hosts. Selig took this into consideration, and as he made the news official through an announcement he said, ”This a special day for the Kansas City Royals organization, the local community and the great baseball fans of Kansas City.”

In April the New York Jets made some odd changes during the off season which included signing a defensive player that left some Jets fans confused. Jason Taylor, a former Miami Dolphin, signed a two-year contract with the Jets after publicly badmouthing the team, and the intelligence of the fans, for many years.

Taylor was expecting the fans to be angry towards him at Wednesday’s minicamp practice at the New Meadowlands Stadium because of the comments he has made in the past. Fans even began to cheer for him, which was much appreciated by Taylor.

The 35 year old defensive linemen did not participate much in Wednesday’s practice. He underwent shoulder surgery which he is currently in the process of recovering from. The surgery certainly is limiting his ability to practice, but the fans liked him anyway.

Last week the New York Giants announced that they will be losing one of their most essential players for whole 2010 season.

In the middle of minicamp practices last week, the team announced that Domenik Hixon suffered from an injury to his right knee during practice the day before. Hixon, the Giants’ leading punt and kickoff returner last season, endured a torn anterior cruciate ligament after hyperextending his knee.

Team physician Russell Warren made the diagnosis, and followed the injury up with an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. It was determined that within the next two weeks the five year veteran will have surgery in order to fix the torn ligament

The Giants’ reliable wide receiver was returning a punt when the injury occurred at the New Meadowlands Stadium during the teams’ first practice ever in their new home.

Although training camp does not even begin for more than five weeks the Giants are already aware of their loss, and are looking into their other options to replace Hixon for the 2010 season. The New Jersey Devils announced that they have hired a new head coach. The new head coach of the franchise is John MacLean, the all time leading goal scorer for the Devils. MacLean was the player who scored the game winning goal that entered the Devils into the playoffs for their first time. He was also on the team when they won their first Stanley Cup in 1995.

The hiring of MacLean came after Lou Lamoriello, the Devils’ general manager decided he was not ready to make any alterations to the current defensive system, even though they have been struggling in the playoffs. For example, since 2003 when the Devils won their last Stanley Cup they have only been successful in winning two playoff series. That’s where the hiring of MacLean comes into play, as he knows a great deal about the system. He will replace Jacques Lemaire who coached New Jersey for one season before his unexpected retirement.

MacLean has played 18 season in the National Hockey League. He scored 347 goals for the Devils, and a total of 413 with the Sharks, Rangers, Stars, and Devils combined before retiring after the 2001-2002 season. John MacLean has been teammates with multiple current Devils players including Martin Brodeur, Brian Rolston, Partrik Elias, and two others.

For the second consecutive year, fans of Major League Baseball are becoming interactive, and voting to select their favorite players to participate in the MLB Home Run Derby. The ballot allows fans the choose three of their favorite players from both the National and the American League to compete in the Derby. The FIFA World Cup is currently taking place now, but the New York Red Bulls are still gaining attention regarding the possible addition of a new star player to their roster when the World Cup is over.

Fan voting for the 2010 MLB All-Star Game has begun. This year Andre Ethier is looking to be selected to play in the All-Star Game for the first time in his career. Lucky for him, he is among the leading National League outfielders in the voting for the 81st All-Star Game.

Ethier currently has over 606,000 votes, which puts him in third place among the other National League outfield candidates. He is closely following Jayson Werth of the Philadelphia Phillies who is in second place, but is quite far behind Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun in first place. He leads fourth place Phillies teammate Shane Victorino, and fifth place rookie Jason Heyward.

The National and American League teams that will compete in the 2010 MLB All-Star game will be announced on Sunday, July 4th. The National League Team will have eight starters selected by the fans, and the American League will have nine selected from the balloting program. KISS, one of the hardest rocking bands of all time, will be embarking on a three month tour across the United States. Although the band did perform a farewell tour 10 years ago, they announced in 2002 that they were not going to retire after all. Now KISS is back full force with a new tour titled the “Hottest Show on Earth.”

The band is playing in Europe through the end of June, and will then take a month off before starting the U.S. leg of the tour. On July 23 the band will begin touring in the USA starting with North Dakota.

KISS will be stopping in the tri-state area in Camden, NJ at the Susquehanna Bank Center on Friday, August 6, the NIkon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY on Saturday August 14, and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on Friday, August 20. The legendary rock band will also be performing in cities in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Texas, Ohio, and other cities across the United States.

The 2010 Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular will mark the 78th annual of this entertaining holiday tradition. Since 1933 audiences of all ages have enjoyed celebrating the Christmas Season at the Radio City Music Hall with the world renowned Rockettes.

Next season’s NHL Heritage Classic will be held outdoors in Canada. Next February, Calgary’s McMahon Stadium will be the host to the Heritage Classic.

This will mark the first time since 2003 when the Montreal Canadians hosted the Edmonton Oilers that the Heritage Classic was held on Canadian soil. The NHL is making an effort to honor the great outdoor tradition, and is going back to its roots in Canada for the first time in seven years.

Next years’ game will feature two Canadian teams, which are the Montreal Canadiens against the Calgary Flames at the McMahon Stadium in Calgary. This stadium houses 35,650 fans to experience the exciting ice hockey action. However, using this stadium as a venue poses many questions.

The main question is whether or not it will be too cold for an outdoor, mid-February game in Canada. The NHL commissioner, Gary Bettman addressed this issue, and admitted that if the weather was too harsh, that the game would move indoors to the Pengrowth Saddledome. However, this is very unlikely as it has never occurred that an outdoor game must be moved to indoors.

Despite all of the doubts, the 2011 NHL Heritage Classic will be held in Canada next February, and is sure to feature an exciting matchup!

Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies is the top contender from the National League in the fan voting for the MLB Home Run Derby. The fans are voting on who they would be most interested in seeing in the Home Run Derby the night before the All-Star Game on July 13, 2010.

Howard is a home run champ. In his last four seasons he has banged out over 40 home runs, and has a total of 240 career home runs to his name including 3 walk offs, 27 tying, and 88 go ahead homers.

Today the National Hockey League announced the location and the teams to participate in their signature event, the Winter Classic. The commissioner of the NHL, Gary Bettman, announced that the NHL will continue to channel back to their roots by bringing the game to the outdoors.

The next Winter Classic to follow this great tradition will be held on New Years Day at Heinz Field, the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The NHL favors football stadiums rather than any where else because of their enormous size and incredible sight lines.

In less than a month, the annual U.S. Open Golf Championship will be held in at the Pebble Beach Golf Links for the first time since 2000. These Golf Links is where the 100th annual of the Open was held, and where Tiger Woods won his first U.S. Open.

Tiger will return to the beautiful golf links at Pebble Beach this year, but they have changed a bit over the past decade. Changes have been mandated by USGA officials, and suggested by Arnold Palmer in order to make this years’ Open more challenging than the previous years that it was held at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Fairways of the course have been moved closer to cliffs and waters, and have been narrowed to optimize difficulty. Previously the course was 6828 yards long. It has now been lengthened to a total of 7,040 yards. New teeboxes have been added to several holes, and on shorter holes the graduated rough will be grown taller as a penalty on shots that stray from the course.

Additionally, the par of the course will be played as par 71 instead of 72 as officials have raised the par of the 502-yard second hole to a par 4 instead of a par 5.

Thierry Henry will be joining the New York Red Bulls. It has been confirmed by a league source that the 35 year old soccer player will be likely joining the Red Bulls after the World Cup. Dietrick Mateschitz, co-founder of the Red Bulls created a contract for Henry that not only entails playing in games, but promotional duties as well.

This weekend Thierry Henry will be finishing up his season with Spanish La Liga club Barcelona, and then he will be playing for France in South Africa during the World Cup on June 11-July 11.

Since Barcelona’s striker has only been able to score four goals in 15 league appearances, it seems as though he is falling through the cracks. Only a short time ago Joan Laporta, Barcelona president, told reporters that Henry could leave the club in the summer, and was free to do so.

However, Henry still has lots of soccer in him as he was rated the top player in the world last November. The New York Red Bulls could use Thierry Henry as a positive asset to their team.

Bruce Springsteen may have been the one to host the final shows at the old Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but it will be Bon Jovi who will open the new $1.6 billion stadium.

On Wednesday the New York Jets and the New York Giants made their bid to host the 2014 Super Bowl at the new Meadowlands Stadium. However, there is some controversy surrounding this bid as it will be the first time the Super Bowl will not be held in a stadium with a roof, or in a place where the minimum game day temperature is around 50 degrees.

These have been the requirements since the first Super Bowl in 1967, but when the National Football League waived those game day requirements it gave the Jets and the Giants the go-ahead to submit a joint bid to be the host. On May 25 NFL owners will be voting on the game’s 2014 location.

The game will either be held in NYC, South Florida, or Tampa, and it will be up to the 32 NFL owners who are voting to decide. If none of the cities get votes from 24 of the owners (75 percent of the vote) on the first ballot, then no one will be determined the winner. However, the city with the lowest votes will be removed from the competition, and then the winner will be decided on the second ballet by majority rule.

The 2011 MLB All Star Game is already stirring up a bit of controversy. Across the United States immigration activists and sports columnists are requesting that baseball fans fight for the MLB to move next year’s game location out of Phoenix, Arizona.

Arizona’s new immigration law that says police are required to determine a person’s legal status, and would also require immigrants to have documentation on them that confirms their immigration status is the cause of the uproar.

Many activists say that almost a third of professional baseball players are Latino. Many of the Latino players are in Arizona, which makes it a major target for those against Arizona’s new law. The people who are opposed to the new law are hoping to use economic boycotts to convince the state to change the law.

The head of presente.org created an online petition in which he collected over 100,000 signatures in just a week. Roberto Lovato’s petition demanded that the commissioner of baseball pull the 2011 All-Star Game out of Arizona.

The 2010 Indianapolis 500 will feature an exciting reunion. For the first time since 2002 Barry Green and Paul Tracy will team up in hopes of conquering the May 30 Indianapolis 500.

It was announced on Tuesday that Barry Green, former IndyCar team owner, will be the race strategist for Paul Tracy in this year’s Indy 500. This duo has not paired up since a controversial Indy 500 race eight years ago.

In 2002 Paul Tracy raced in Barry Green’s No. 26 car and won second place. However, Tracy and Green believed that Tracy passed Helio Castroneves for first place before the caution lights were displayed for a crash. The racing team completed and filed a written protest regarding the finishing ranks, but the committee in charge gave their support to Castroneves and he remained the winner.

Green admitted that he is excited to work with Paul again, and to Return to the Indy 500. He also said that they both felt like they “have some unfinished business at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

Tracy and Green will be competing as a team in the 92nd annual of the race, which will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Race time is 1:00 pm.

Interest in the Kentucky Derby is reaching an all time high. With over 16 million viewers, this year’s Derby was the most-watched Derby in 21 years. On May 1, 2010 Super Saver, along with Calvin Borel as his jockey, ran their way to a two-and-a-half-length victory at the Louisville Churchill Downs racetrack.

The Derby experienced the highest number of viewers in 1989 when Sunday Silence took first place. In that Derby, 21 years ago 18.5 million viewers watched. Last year Mine That Bird executed one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Kentucky Derby as 16.3 million viewers watched. This year, an average of 16.5 million viewers tuned into the race on NBC. According to the network, the Derby received a 9.8 rating, which was about the same as last year’s.

NBC has been broadcasting the Run of the Roses for the past ten years while averaging 14 million viewers. Ratings have risen 50 percent during that time, and you can expect them to rise even more in the future.

The odds for the Kentucky Derby have been changed a bit because the favorite, Eskendereya, is now out of the running for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. When the opening odds were released, Eskendereya was a 6/1 favorite to win the Derby.

Since Eskendereya is out of this years’ race, Lookin at Lucky (9-1) took over as the favorite. Lookin at Lucky has been the winner of five out of his eight races. He finished third at the Santa Anita Derby, which was his last race.

However the odds have changed once again, and now Super Saver is the favorite at 7-1 odds. This year Super Saver has raced in two races, but just missed first place in both of them. In the Arkansas Derby he finished second, and in the Tampa Bay Derby he finished in third place.

On April 3 Red Bull New York secured a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders, and broke their Major League Soccer record of having a 29-game losing streak on the road. On Saturday, April 24, 2010 Red Bull New York beat the Philadelphia Union, making them undefeated at home this season.

Jack Johnson, Aerosmith, and Greenday will all be performing at the PNC Bank Arts Center this summer. At 10 a.m. today, Live Nation announced PNC Bank Arts Center’s summer concert lineup. A couple of individual shows have been announced during the course of the past few weeks, but nearly the full lineup was just announced today.

The PNC Bank Arts center, which is located in Holmdel off of the Garden State Parkway, is a place that numerous legends in music have performed, and music fans gather to hear their favorite musicians perform.

Citi field, home of the Mets, has expressed their interest in being the host of the 2011 NHL Winter Classic. The NHL seems to be inching closer to the idea of the the 42,000-seat field being the hosts of the fourth annual Winter Classic.

On Friday Gary Bettman, the commissioner of the NHL made a comment, which said that the owners of the Mets and the stadium have been “extremely interested and aggressive” in their pursuit.

The chief operating officer of the National Hockey League recently took a tour of Citi Field and left with a great impression, and rave reviews. John Collins added how great the ball park was while admitting that it had charm.

A large number of baseball stadiums have expressed interest in hosting the Classic including Detroit and Colorado. Bettman said the list of the teams and cities who are interested is a long one, but some options seem to be more appealing for the NHL.

Although the venue for the 2011 NHL Winter Classic has not been declared, one thing known for sure is that no matter where it takes place, it will be held outdoors. The NHL has a goal to bring the game of hockey back to its roots in the outdoors.

On Sunday, September 12 the Miami Dolphins are scheduled to play their season opening game against the Buffalo Bills. This is the second season in a row that their season will begin away from their home at the Sun Life Stadium.

This will be the first time since 1991 that the Dolphins will open their season in Buffalo. In the history of the team this will be the seventh time that the Dolphins have opened in Buffalo.

The Dolphins will not go home until Week Three because they are traveling to Minnesota for Week Two to play the Vikings on Sunday, September 19. The Dolphins have not opened with two games on the road since 1988.

For Week Three the Dolphins will return home where they will play their long time AFC rivals, the New York Jets. On Sunday, September 16 the New York Jets will travel to Miami for a Sunday night battle at the Sun Life Stadium.

The Dolphins will conclude their 45th season on the road by making their annual trip to New England against the Patriots on Sunday, January 2, 2011.

The New York Giants played their 273rd and final game in their old stadium against the Carolina Panthers. They were put to shame during the closing of the old Giants Stadium by losing 41-9.

The rematch is quickly approaching as the Giants will play the Panthers on September 12, 2010. Funnily enough the Panthers were the last opponent in the old stadium, and now will be the first opponent for the Giants in their new $1.7 billion stadium.

The Giants will play a total of four home games during the first six weeks of the season. You can also expect them to play four times in prime time during, which will include an intense game where Eli Manning of the Giants will play his brother’s Indianapolis Colts.

Tom Coughlin, the coach of the Giants, said that their schedule may be a little “challenging.” The Giants will play numerous games against teams that made it to the 2009 playoffs, and five of those games will not be on their own turf. New York will finish their season on the road at Minnesota, Greenbay, and then Washington all in a four-week time frame.

The New York Giants will play the inaugural game at the new Giants stadium on August 16, 2010 against the New York Jets, but their season begins against the panthers on September 12, 2010.

The Philadelphia Eagles needed someone to fill a linebacker position, and they fixed that by acquiring Ernie Sims from Detroit while giving up a fifth-round draft choice. The deal was made in a three-way NFL trade which involved the Denver Broncos as well as the Detroit Lions.

Ernie Sims is currently in the concluding year of his rookie contract, and according to sources the Eagles are looking to make him a long-term commitment for the team. Sims has only been with the NFL for four seasons, and he has played all four seasons as a Lion.

The 6′ 225-pound linebacker started every game for his first three seasons while averaging 124 tackles a season. He has played 59 career games, and in those 59 games he has one interception, 2 1/2 sacks, and 420 tackles.

It seems as though the Eagles have been able to fill all of their essential needs for their team, yet have 10 selections in the 2010 draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles will host their first preseason game on Friday, August 13, 2010 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Eagles’ regular season starts on Sunday, September 12, 2010 against Green Bay at the Lincoln Financial Field.

Jason Taylor signed a two-year contract with the New York Jets on Monday despite being despised by the fans for many years because of comments he made regarding his dislike for the Jets.

Taylor did not want to leave the Dolphins, but according to sources the Dolphins did not acknowledge his phone calls while he was in pursuit of a new contract. They told him that he would have to wait until after the draft for them to even consider renewing his contract. Two weeks ago Taylor visited the Jets, but only left with the decision to either wait until after the draft to see if Miami would re-sign him, or to sign with New York.

The 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is another signing risk that coach Rex Ryan has made to add to the multiple other ones. Fans will have to wait and see if this odd off-season activity will be rewarding to them or not.

Ryan seems to think it will be beneficial to their goal of reaching the playoffs.  ”We expect Jason to play a bunch and be a major contributor to our defense, clearly, we have an outstanding group already, but you can expect Jason to be out there a bunch.”

The New York Jets will host the opening game at the new Meadowlands stadium on August 16, 2010 against fellow tenants, the New York Giants. The regular season for the Jets begins on Monday, September 13, 2010 against the Baltimore Ravens.
