On Tuesday night in Cleveland the New York Yankees suffered a 4-1 loss to rookie pitcher Josh Tomlin and the Indians. Tuesday was Tomlin’s major league debut, and he was able to dominate the Yankees. For the first seven innings Tomlin left the Yankees scoreless, and only allowed two hits.

Not even Alex Rodriguez could get a nice hit off of Tomlin. Surprisingly this was the fifth straight game that Rodriguez was unsuccessful in scoring a home run.

A-Rod had the perfect opportunity to make it happen in the ninth inning where he would have represented the tying run. However, Chris Perez was not having that. Instead, he ended the game with a grounder, and an unfortunate loss for the Yankees.

Rodriguez has not been able to hit a home run in 21 at bats. This year A-Rod has hit 16 homers in 358 at bats, which means he averages one homer every 22.3 at-bats. Based on this pace, Rodriguez is due to hit one out of the park during Wednesday’s game against the Indians… at least he and the Yankees are hoping that’s the case.

The New York Yankees are preparing for their next game in Cleveland, Ohio against the Indians on Wednesday July 28, 2010.

The New York Yankees have been faced with many concerns this past week, and the recent injury to their starting pitcher does not help. Andy Pettitte is suffering from a grade one tear to his left hamstring which will leave him out of the starting rotation for awhile. Pettitte will be missing up to six starts, while Sergio Mitre will attempt to take his spot in the rotation.

Last year Mitre was faced with a similar situation, but did not perform that great. In the nine games he started, he had a 3-3 record and a 7.16 ERA. However Mitre was just coming back from Tommy John surgery, which normally would pose as a problem for pitchers returning to the game. Also, he pitched so well in spring training that people though he would be able to win the number five spot in the Yankees’ lineup.

Since 2003 Mitre has pitched for 388 innings, and in those innings he allowed 232 runs, 47 homers, walked 130 batters, and struck out a promising 237 batters. In 2007 Mitre pitched his first and only full season since 2003. His ERA was a career best that year as he posted a 4.65.

Hopefully Mitre will be able to put the past aside as the Yankees gear up for a quick two games against the Angels in the Bronx. The New York Yankees will play their next game at Yankee Stadium against the LA Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday, July 20, 2010.

Alex Rodriguez and Joe Torre have apparently settled their differences. Rodriguez’s former New York Yankees manager and Rodriguez himself seemed to have ended their beef before Sunday nights game. The game lasted 10 innings, but in the end the New York Yankees beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-6. The Yankees won two games out of the three in the series.

The feud stems from when Torre wrote his book in 2007 that made critical comments about Rodriguez. Torre wrote “When it comes to a key situation, he can’t get himself to concern himself with getting the job done, instead of how it looks.”

A-Rod decided to bury the hatchet and approached Torre on Sunday, shaking his hand and speaking to him for almost a minute. Rodriguez told the New York Daily News that he thought it would be a mature move if he went over to talk to him. He said, “I felt in my heart it was important to not let things linger.”

The New York Yankees will host their next game against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

Tonight the New York Yankees will be heading into a Subway Series against the New York Mets, but they are not entering it the way they would have hoped to. The Yankees are coming off of two straight losses to the Philadelphia Phillies at Yankee Stadium.

On Wednesday night the Yankees lost 6-3, and Jamie Moyer of the Phillies became the oldest pitcher to beat the Yankees. Then last night the Yankees were not able to get their act together, and ended up losing 7-1.

Hopefully the Yankees are ready to put up a fight when they host their neighbors tonight going into the Subway Series. This three-game series will most likely be very competitive on both teams’ ends. The Yankees are hoping to salvage a win after being defeated by the Phillies, and the Mets are on fire on the road after winning six games in a row over Cleveland and Baltimore.

The Yankees do have something to their advantage, as Alex Rodriguez will return to third base tonight. He has not played this position since June 10 when he suffered from a strained right hip flexor after the first inning. Due to his injury Rodriguez missed four games, only to return on Wednesday night. He has played two games since his return, and has an RBI double, seven at bats, and two hits.

The New York Yankees will play their next game against the New York Mets tonight on Friday, June 18, 2010.

The New York Yankees just recently ended a four-game series against the Cleveland Indians. The Yankees opened the series with a 8-2 win over the Indians.

The Yankees achieved this forceful win with lots of help from Robinson Cano, who hit a grand slam to score 4 points for the Yankees. The bases were loaded with a single, a double, and walk which set up Cano’s grand slam that he hit on his first pitch. This was Cano’s third grand slam in his career.

Another notable player in the series opener was right handed pitcher Phil Hughes. He played well for seven innings, only giving up two runs. He struck out the first five players of the game, and had a total of eight strike outs by the end of the night.

New York went on to win three out of the four games against Celeveland, but they were all high scoring games. Both teams put up a great fight in all four of the games, but the Yankees clearly came out the winner.

The New York Yankees will play their next game against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

The center fielder for the New York Yankees will begin a rehab stint in the minor leagues.

On May 1 Granderson suffered from a strain of the groin during the Yankees’ 7-6 loss against the White Sox. The injury occurred while he was running from first to third base in the sixth inning. He has missed 18 games since then, but the Yankees are hoping he heals by this weekend.

Curtis Granderson will start his rehab assignment on Saturday where he will be the designated hitter. The plan for the rest of the five-game stint consists of him alternating positions where Sunday he will play outfield, Wednesday he will be the DH again, back to the outfield on Tuesday with a day off on Wednesday. On Thursday, after his off day he will be playing in the first game of a double header.

The rehab assignment is designed to get Curtis back to the Yankees for their weekend series against the Cleveland Indians in the Bronx.

The New York Yankees will begin their next three game series on Tuesday, May 25 against the Twins in Minnesota before Granderson returns to the team on Saturday.

Nick Johnson, designated hitter for the New York Yankees, endured surgery on his right wrist on Tuesday. On Saturday the general manager of the Yankees mentioned that Johnson might have been in need of surgery, and sure enough on Tuesday he had his wrist operated on.

After the Yankees’ game on May 7 at Fenway Park, Johnson was experiencing soreness in his right wrist. He received a cortisone shot after the game, and the Yankees waited to see if the shot would work.

After the cortisone did not work, Johnson decided to have the surgery. Johnson was diagnosed with an inflamed tendon, and the surgery was to remove the inflamed tissue from his right wrist.

The 31-year old was told that he will need to rest for a minimum of four to six weeks before returning to the field. Joe Girardi, the Yankees’ manager mentioned that the surgery “is not a quick fix,” and that he is not expecting Johnson to return until late in the summer.

The New York Yankees will play their next game without Nick Johnson as the designated hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, May 20, 2010.

The team with the second highest paid players is the Real Madrid soccer team of Spain at 4.2 million pounds or $6.3 million. The third highest paid players are the Barcelona soccer team, while the fourth is the Premier League club Chelsea. The rest of top 10 is completed with all teams from the NBA including the Dallas Mavericks, LA Lakers, and the number 10 New York Knicks.

The salaries for the Yankees are of the starters, and do not include any commercial deals with major companies that they may have. The figures were found from the 2009 season, as are the six NBA teams on the top ten, but the soccer club teams figures’ are from 2008.

The New York Yankees will have their opening day game on April 13, 2010 at Yankee Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. See the highest played athletes at their best!

Phil Hughes has officially been chosen as the New York Yankees’ fifth starter. Manager Joe Giardi and his coaching staff finalized the decision on Wednesday. Giardi then made the announcement on Thursday that revealed the solution to the biggest decision for the Yankees’ of the spring.

Last season Hughes pitched in 51 games of which he started in seven. The 23-year-old posted an ERA of 3.03 with an 8-3 record for the season. During spring training for this year he did give up five home runs, but otherwise he was able to keep runners off base pretty well.

The announcement put an end to a competition between Phil Hughes, Alfredo Aceves, Joba Chamberlain, Sergio Mitre, and Chad Gaudin that lasted a total of six weeks. This was considered a big set back for Chamberlin who was passed up for the number five spot. Gaudin was the final candidate in the running for the number five slot in the Yankees rotation, but was released on Thursday.

The New York Yankees will have their opening day game on April 13, 2010 at Yankee Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

New York Yankees super stars, Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter, are due for new contracts after the 2010 baseball season. The Yankees will also have to handle the deal for manager Joe Giardi. However according to team policy their possible contract extensions will not be discussed until after this season.

Mariano Rivera is the greatest closer in the history of baseball. Throughout his career he has 502 saves, and he is only one out of two relievers who can say they have at least 500 saves. Also throughout his career has has a 2.29 ERA. Rivera had a great season in 2009 because he converted 39 out of 40 save chances with an ERA of 1.40. There is no doubt that he is an excellent asset to the Yankees. He makes strike outs, barely walks batters, and hardly ever lets extra-base hits occur.

Derek Jeter is also entering his final season of his 10-year contract with New York. He said he understood the team’s policy of not negotiating new contracts until the current deal is over. Nonetheless, Jeter has made it clear many of times that he wants to be a Yankee for life. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This is the only organization I ever wanted to play for. It’s still the only organization I want to play for. I can’t say it enough times,” said Jeter.

The New York Yankees will have their opening day game on April 13, 2010 at Yankee Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, and Joe Giardi are all entering the final year of their contracts, and their deals will not be negotiated until this season is over. Don’t miss your chance to see them in action.

Baseball’s big 2010 Opening Day is less than one month away. Spring training is already underway in order to prepare the New York Yankees for their 2010 return to the field.

Opening Day is always a big event for every baseball team, but this year is particularly special for the Yankees. This is the first home game after winning last years’ World Series Championship. This season also marks the final season of Derek Jeter’s contract with New York.

Fans of the Yankees are hoping on back to back World Series Titles, and in early February the co-chairman of the Yankees spoke highly of their chances. Hank Steinbrenner said this strong sense of belief came from the changes to the roster in the offseason.

The New York Yankees baseball franchise has been providing fans with amazing ball games since 1923. With 27 World Series Championships to their name, the Yankees are now known as the most successful team in baseball history.

The New York Yankees will have their opening day game on April 13, 2010 at Yankee Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

This season, Derek Jeter will be entering his final year of his contract with the New York Yankees. At the end of this season Derek Jeter and the Yankees will be getting together in order to negotiate a new contract. However, the negotiation might begin to become difficult because of a few reasons.

There are two main questions on everyone’s mind. One, as Derek Jeter becomes older, and his defensive skills start to take a dive, will the Yankees think about moving him from his shortstop position? And two, will Jeter urge to be paid as much as Alex Rodriguez? Both of these questions could potentially lead to problems as the contract is negotiated at the end of the 2010 season.

Although these may lead to difficulties, one thing is for sure. Derek Jeter has made it extremely clear that he would remain a Yankee for life. The Yankees are lucky to have a player such as Jeter who is as team oriented as he is.

The New York Yankees won their 27th World Series title this past season, and left pitcher Andy Pettitte to decide if he wanted to leave the MLB with a bang by retiring as a World Series champ. Although Pettitte was taking that into consideration, he decided that he was not quite ready to say good-bye to the game just yet.

On Friday Andy Pettitte spoke about retiring and said, “I want to make sure that I don’t go home and miss it, that it’s killing me not to be here. When I do it, I want to be done with it. I don’t think it would be fair to my family to say that I’m done and then pull the rug out from underneath them. I want to make sure I’ve fully exhausted myself of this.” Neither the Yankees, nor Andy Pettitte himself see an end, which led them to agree that his return will only be a yearly review.

Last season before the Yankees won the American League East the 37-year-old left hander went 14-8 and only gave up an average of 4.16 runs per game. As the postseason ended, he earned his fifth World Series ring, while finishing the postseason going 4-0 with a 3.52 ERA. Including each clincher in the postseason of 2009, Pettitte has 229 wins under his belt. Pettitte is key for the Yankees whenever they are under pressure.

The New York Yankees co-chairman, Hank Steinbrenner, believes that the Yankees may be on their way to another World Series Championship this year. In Tampa, Florida on Thursday Steinbrenner spoke very highly of the Yankees’ general manager, Brian Chashman, and the players he added to the team during the offseason. He gained a strong sense of belief in the Yankees after they added outfielder Curtis Granderson and pitcher Javier Vazquez to their roster.

Center fielder, Curtis Granderson was obtained from the Detroit Tigers. He was a 2009 American League All-Star, and will be playing at center field where Melky Cabrera once played. Cabrera was sent to the Braves in the trade made by Brian Cashman, which included the Yankees aqcuiring Javier Vazquez.

From the Atlanta Braves, Javier Vazquez joined the team and was added to the pitching rotation for the Yankees which includes CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte, A.J. Burnett, and a fifth starter who has not been decided yet. New York is hoping that Vazquez will keep them from needing to rely on a three-man rotation like they needed to in the postseason and the World Series.

The Yankees also made other additions during the off season. They added outfielder Randy Winn, and designated hitter Nick Johnson, but also said goodbye to some great players such as Hideki Matsui and Johnny Damon.

Johnny Damon of the New York Yankees has a tough decision to make, and he is running out of time to make it. The Yankees and Damon had a conversation once again, and this time he was given the weekend to decide if he wants to return to the Yankees. If Damon were to decide that he wanted to come back to New York it would be on a bargain deal.

After Johnny Damon helped the Yankees win their 27th world Series with 100 runs, 24 of them being home runs, he thought he deserved a good deal. In December, Damon asked the Yankees for $20 million on a two-year deal. However, the Yankees signed Nick Johnson at that time and declined Damon his $20 million deal.

It is not looking good for Damon’s acceptance of a low-base contract from the Yankees, and low base would mean less than $5 million. His run with the Yankees may be officially ending early next week. There has been some talk of possible teams Damon may go to including The Giants, the Tigers, and the Braves.

The New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 and leveled the best of 7 set of the World Series to 1-1.

The reigning World Series champions were no match for the Yankees’ pitcher, A.J. Burnett, on Thursday night at the new Yankees’ stadium in the Bronx. Burnett stopped the top 4 Phillies’ hitters, who went 0-for-10 against him. Burnett struck out nine batters and only allowed 4 hits in seven innings, making this his best pitching game of the post season. This was also his first ever World Series appearance.

Mark Teixiera blasted a solo homer in the fourth inning off a high change up by Pedro Martinez to even the score 1-1. Hideki Matsui hit his 8th US career playoff homer to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead in the 6th inning.

Unfortunately for the second night in a row, Yankees playoff star Alex Rodriguez had three strike outs, continuing his World Series slump to 0-for-8.

Starting today, the series shifts to Philadelphia for games three through five where Cole Hamels is set to face Andy Pettitte. In 40 World Series appearances the New York Yankees have won 26 titles, which is twice as many as the Philadelphia Phillies.

The New York Yankees won their second game of the American League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium. The Bronx was wet, cold, and filled with the tension of playoff baseball, which was heightened as the exciting game went into extra innings.

The Yankees scored in the second and third inning, leaving the Angels scoreless the 5th inning when they were able to score 2 runs. After that, neither team was able to score a run until the top of the 11th inning when Chone Figgins hit a single to give the angels a 3-2 lead. Alex Rodriguez was able to tie the game in the bottom of the 11th with a home run over the right field wall.

In the bottom of the 13th inning, with 1 out and runners on first and second, Melky Cabrera hit a ground ball to the left of Maicer Izturis, the second basemen for the Angels. Izturis threw Cabrera’s grounder to try to force Robinson Cano out at second base, but his throw was wide of Angels’ short stop, Erick Aybar. The over throw let Jerry Hairston, pinch runner for the Yankees, score the winning run for the Yankees allowing them to come away with a 4-3 victory.

The Yankees have a commanding lead of 2-0 going in to game 3 of the series which is now moving to California.
The New York Yankees finished off their sweep of the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, October 11 and are another step closer to winning their 27th World Series title. This 4-1 victory over the Twins was their first playoff series win in 5 years. The 4-1 win for the Yankees was game 3 in the AL Division Series, and was also the final major league game to be played inside of the Metrodome before the Twins move to Target Field next season.

The Yankees were scoreless until the 7th inning when they were able to overcome strong pitching by former teammate Carl Pavano. Home runs by Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada took the first steps to the 4-1 victory over the Twins. Mariano Rivera ended the Twins’ season with the final four outs of the game and closed out Andy Pettitte’s 15th career postseason win.

For the first time since 2004, thanks to the three-game sweep against the Twins, the New York Yankees are now in the American League Championship Series. On Friday, October 16 the Yankees will play the Los Angeles Angels at Yankee Stadium to begin a best-of-seven set. This season the Yankees were 5-5 against the Angels, but in 2002 and 2005 the Angels were the team that eliminated the Yankees from the road to the World Series.

It took one extra inning, but the New York Yankees won their opening game against the Chicago White Sox 5-2. C.C. Sabathia held the White Sox back for the first six innings, until they broke through to tie the game in the seventh. Jermaine Dye interrupted the shut out with a double and was able to score after another double from Alex Rios.

In the tenth inning with two outs, the New York Yankees were able to become victorious with a little help from a homer by Robinson Cano. The White Sox pitcher, Randy Williams, was successful in striking out two batters in the tenth inning before walking Hideki Matsui and Nick Swisher. This was the perfect set up for Robinson Cano’s three run game winning homer.

The New York Yankees could not have done it without homers from Derek Jeter and Johnny Damon earlier in the ball game. This was Jeter’s seventeenth home run of the year and 223rd of his career. Damon’s homer was his 23rd which leaves him one homer short of his career high from 2006.

After losing Saturday night’s game to the Boston Red Sox 14-1, the New York Yankees redeemed themselves during Sunday night’s game at Fenway Park. Although the New York Yankees lost their first eight games to their rivals, they were able to increase their lead in the American League East over the Boston Red Sox by seven games.

The lead off batter, Derek Jeter, started the game off with a homer, paving the way for the New York Yankees victory. This was Jeter’s twenty first home run of the season for the New York Yankees. Jeter’s incredible home run was his 2,700 career hit, and that leaves him in second place in career hits for the New York Yankees.

The New York Yankees hit a total of five glorious home runs off of Boston’s pitcher, Josh Beckett. For the second time this serious, Hideki Matsui hit two homers in one game. Alex Rodriquez and Robinson Cano also produced home runs for the New York Yankees, making the team unstoppable!

The New York Yankees seem to be on point, as the Red Sox seem to be in temporary discomposure. The rivals will meet again in New York on Friday, September 25. Grab some New York Yankees tickets to this, or any other game, now!

This week’s hottest events on SelectATicket.com is led by David Beckham’s return to MLS soccer when the LA Galaxy visit Red Bull New York on July 16th at Giants Stadium. That is closely followed by another Giants Stadium event, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s string of concerts as the final musical act at the current Giants Stadium. There has been a lot of interest in those shows as the die-hard Bruce fans all want to see at least one of those shows.

Broadway makes sure it is represented by the Jersey Boys and Lion King and of course it wouldn’t be summertime in New York without the Bronx Bombers, the New York Yankees make the list to close out the top five.

After last weekend’s disappointing series against rival Red Sox, they needed strong showings this week to stay in the hunt for the AL East lead as the All Star break approaches.

And for the most part, the Yankees have had a good week, but with an opportunity to gain on the Red Sox – who lost on Tuesday night – against the Nationals, the MLB’s worst team the Yanks were unable to capitalize.

Adam Dunn’s homerun was the deth knell for New York as Chien Ming Wang’s record for the season fell to 0-5.
The Yankees are keeping it close with the Sox as the symbolic mid-season break approaches. It would be a huge moral boost if they could close the gap by All-Star week.

Grab some Yankees tickets, and help them out as the look for a bounce-back season.

The premier rivalry in all of sports hasn’t been much to write home about so far this season – especially for Yankees fans. The Red Sox are Red Hot against the Bronx Bombers this year after an 8-0 start.

The Sox completed another sweep this week as this all-important series was renewed. This week’s series was a little more important than most in that the two clubs entered the series tied for the division lead.

After the weekend sweep, the Sox now have a three game advantage in the league as the Sox continue to try and fight off the Yankees before the All Star break.

The Red Sox clicked on all cylinders in beating the Yanks as pitching, hitting and defense were all solid.
If you’re a Yankees fan, grab some Yankees tickets this season as they try to cut back into Boston’s lead.

The biggest rivalry in all of sports has been very lopsided this year, as the Red Sox have continued to dominate the Yankees and have won every contest this year against their AL East rivals to improve to 7-0 on the season against the Yankees. But more importantly for the Red Sox, the win snapped a first place tie in the division – one that the Yankees had scratched and clawed for in the past 4 weeks – giving the Sox a division lead.

One of the great stories on the season for the Sox is knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, who is notoriously hit-or-miss who and who now has his team-leading 8th win of the season while also picking up his 8th quality start.

The Yankees have eleven more chances to upset the Red Sox this season, starting tomorrow night when C.C. Sabathia toes the rubber against Brad Penny. Grab some, Sox-Yankees tickets today – you never know what’s going to happen next.

The greatest and most intense rivalry in all of sports is about to be renewed, but before the New York Yankees venture into Boston tomorrow, they had to dismiss the troubled Rays of Tampa Bay.

The Yankees left in style slamming four home runs in a 5-3 victory in Yankee Stadium. Tampa Bay starting pitcher Andy Sonnanstine was on the wrong end of all four of those homers. Johnny Damon’s solo shot put the Yankees up in the sixth after Mark Teixeira’s bomb in the first inning tied it at 1-1.

Nick Swisher’s shot in the second tied the game once again in the second at 2-2, after the Yankees gave up early runs. Derek Jeter also piled on in the eighth inning with a solos shot to lead off that inning.

The New Yankee Stadium has now seen over 100 home runs in only 29 games and is becoming one of the MLB’s premier hitter’s parks. Grab some New York Yankees tickets and try for yourself to try and shag some homers.

The Yankees players and coaches were quick to admonish Texas pitcher Scott Feldman on Wednesday for throwing a phenomenal game and keeping the Yankee offense at bay, while the Rangers offense did their job and left with the 4-2 win. Feldman picked up his 5th win of the season and is becoming the ace of the staff.

Feldman gave up six hits in six innings to the Yankees (mostly in his final inning) as the Yankees baserunners were just too spread out to cause any real damage.

With one month to go before the All-Star break, both teams sit atop their divisions, with the Yankees deadlocked with Red Sox in the East. The Rangers lead the AL West by four and a half games over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

There was a slugfest last night in Arlington, the only problem (for Texas) was that only the Yankees got the memo. Robinson Cano and Mark Teixeira powered homeruns in the Yankees 9-2 win, while Hideki Matsui slammed a pair of dingers.

Ian Kinsler, the Rangers slugging second baseman, did manage to get into the action for Texas with a homerun that accounted for the only two runs that they would manage.

The win moves the Yankees only a half a game out of the division lead behind the Red Sox. If they manage to take the lead this weekend in their series with Cleveland, it would be their first time atop the AL East all season long.

The Yankees have been absolutely tearing it up over the past week, but now one of their key players may be in danger of missing some playing time. Yankees starter Joba Chamberlain left in the first inning of Thursday’s game after being struck by a line drive below his right knee.

Chamberlain started his evening against the Baltimore Orioles with a strikeout of O’s second baseman, Brian Roberts. Following Roberts’s at bat, Adam Jones drilled a hard line drive back up the middle, that found Joba’s knee. The ball hit Chamberlain and deflected near the mound, where he picked it up and threw to first base for the forceout.

Yankees skipper Joe Girardi and the training staff took a look at Chamberlain, and it seemed as though he would stay in the game after he threw a few warmup pitches.

Chamberlain then allowed hits to Nick Markakis and Aubrey Huff before Girardi and the head trainer returned to the mound to look at him again. He was immediately sent back to the locker room, while right-hander Alfredo Aceves relieved him.

The Yankees would go on to win the game 7-4 with Aceves getting the win.

Yankees pitcher Phil Coke is not used to pitching in the 9th inning, but with Mariano Rivera unavailable, it was up to Coke to close the door on the Twins on Monday. The Rookie left-hander handed out the final four outs and recorded his first career save as they Yankees completed a four game sweep in the Bronx.

With a final score of 7-6, it would seem as though it was another battle into the late innings, but this one was a little different than the three walk-off games this weekend, the Yankees were actually outscored 6-1 after the first inning, as a huge outburst in the bottom of the first provided almost all the offense the Yankees would need.

The huge first inning was anchored by back-to-back homeruns by Alex Rodriquez and Mark Teixeira as well as a two out RBI by Francisco Cervelli. Teixeira also hit another a homerun in the game.

The Yankees are going for lucky #7 Tuesday night. Grab some New York Yankees tickets and cheer ‘em on!

Brett Gardener and Andy Pettite came to Toronto to play on Wednesday, and the pair helped the Yankees cruise to a 8-2 victory against the MLB-leading Blue Jays. Gardener’s homerun and three RBI combined with Pettite’s strong 6-inning performance on the hill helped the Yankees grab a much needed win against the AL East leaders.

Only 24 hours after being shut down by Toronto ace Roy Halladay, the Yankees found some offense in a serious way as they batted around in the second inning, chasing Toronto’s Scott Richmond out of the game after recording only five outs.

The win brings the Yankees only one game out of .500 at 16-17 as they sit 5.5 games out of the division lead behind Toronto, and Boston. If you’re a fan, grab some New York Yankees tickets and cheer your team on!

For years, the American League East has been the best division in the AL, and usually all of baseball – likewise, the AL West has consistently been the worst team in the AL, with only the abysmal NL West trailing their AL counterparts.

The New York Yankees have been one of the best teams in the AL East over that time, and are – not surprisingly – one of the hottest teams in the league right now. In the West, the Texas rangers are – very surprisingly – leading the division by using phenomenal offensive numbers to abate the competition.

Something had to give when the Yankees visited the Ballpark in Arlington to face the Yankees. And the Yankees were the ones that delivered as they won 11-1 and amazingly enough, the Rangers one run came from a solo homer, while the Yankees hit no homeruns all night.

However, the Yankees did have several standout performances. Johnny Damon was 3-4, former Ranger Mark Teixeira was 3-4, and Alex Rodriguez was 5-5 with 4 RBI.

The Yankees are HOT. Grab some Yankees tickets and check them out for yourself.

It took 10 innings and a few heroics from Outfielder Johnny Damon, but the Yankees were able to handle the Twins in an extra inning affair last night in the Bronx. The win was the third for New York and now puts them at 20-17 and 4 1/2 games out of the division lead – closer than they’ve been since week 2 of the season.

Damon’s walk off homerun in the 10th was his 10th long ball of the season and finished off a game low scoring game that was tied nearly the whole way. The only other runs were in the 7th – two in the top for Minnesota and two in the bottom for New York.

For Minnesota, Matt Tolbert had the sole RBI (the only other run coming from a wild pitch with Joe Mauer batting. While the Yankees scored runs on solo homeruns by Damon and Alex Rodriguez while picking up their second run in the seventh on a sac fly by Melky Cabrera.

The Yankees are on a bit of a tear now, so don’t be surprised if Yankee’s tickets start going fast. Grab ‘em NOW!

Derek Jeter has been the face of the New York Yankees for years and, in addition, he has always been the captain and leader of the club. But the Yankees – who are already facing a though stretch in May – are going to have to work through it without the help of their Capatin… at least for now.

Derek Jeter has been struggling with a sore right oblique the last few games, and unavailable last night for the Yankees game against Toronto. Originally it was thought that Jeter would play, but before the game, Manager Joe Girardi commented that Jeter needed one more day to rest in order to be ready to go on Thursday.

Girardi said that the DL is not a possibility for his star stortstop at this time, and the team is doing all they can to avoid that worst-case scenario. The Yankees can ill-afford to lose Jeter right now as they are fighting to get to .500. If you are in New York, grab some Yankees tickets and cheer on the Yanks – with or without Jeter.

Many think that Alex Rodriguez’s career took a huge turn for the worse this winter, when it was discovered – and confirmed by ARod himself – that Rodriguez used steroids in the past. But a new book, due to be released soon, alleges that ARod lied when he said that he only did steroids for a couple of years when he was with the Texas Rangers organization.

In her book, simply titled “A-Rod”, Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts claims that ARod was using steroids as early as the age of 17, and that his drug use continued throughout his first few seasons with the New York Yankees. But despite the significance of those claims, the steroids chapters in the book are far from the most damning claims against the star.

Roberts claims that ARod has been known to “tip-off” hitters for opposing teams during blowout games in order to help them boost their offensive numbers. The theory is that he would help them boost their stats in the hopes that, later on in the season, they would return the favor. If true, these could be the most egregious offenses made by any major league player since the Black Sox Scandal.

Time will tell – as it always does. In the mean time, ARod continues to be one of the greats in the game today. Grab some New York Yankees tickets and be there for his return as the Yankees try to get back to the playoffs in 2009.

The AL East is even more cluttered this year than it was last year, with the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, and now the Blue Jays all expecting to make waves as the season progresses. Going into the weekend, Toronto held the division lead, with New York and Boston in a second place tie at 9-6. We knew that one team would have an outright claim on second after the weekend’s 3-game series, but I don’t think anyone could have predicted what happened.

The red-hot Red Sox needed eleven innings on Friday to finish off the Yankees, but were able to win games on Saturday and Sunday as well to complete the sweep of the first 2009 series between the two long-time rival clubs. In the first game, it was Kevin Youkilis, whose walk-off homer in the 11th sealed the deal, who was the most valuable player. On Saturday, that honor belonged to Mike Lowell, whose 3-run shot kept the Sox in it in the middle innings. And on Sunday, Jacoby Ellsbury stole home, as the Red Sox stole the series, and their 10th straight victory.

Next up, the Red Sox travel to Cleveland to face the reeling Indians, while New York head to Mo-Town to take on the Tigers, who currently lead the AL central at 10-8.
There is no bigger rivalry in baseball than that of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. In fact, there is probably no bigger rivalry in all of sports. This weekend that rivalry will be renewed once again as the Yankees travel the short distance to Boston for a three-game weekend series in Fenway Park.

Each team comes into the series with a so-so record of 9-6. Probable starting pitchers for the weekend will be: Friday – Jon Lester vs. Joba Chamberlain in a battle of the franchise futures; Saturday – Josh Beckett vs. AJ Burnett; Sunday Justin Masterson vs. Andy Pettite.

I never know what to expect when these two AL East teams face off, but generally I am never disappointed by their shootouts. I don’t expect either team to sweep this weekend’s series, nor do I expect any of the games to be blow outs – it’s just not their style.

If you’re in Boston this weekend, grab some NY Yankees tickets I know I would!

Today may be more well known for being “Tax Day” but in the world of Major League baseball, it is also known as “Jackie Robinson Day” as the sport takes some time to remember one of greatest to ever play, as well as the man who broke the color barrier. The entire Yankee’s team, like many other teams across the league, wore #42, Robinson’s number in remembrance of Jackie’s impact on the game.

Facing the tough Tampa Bay Rays in Florida, they are looking for a huge win before making their debut in the new Yankee Stadium on Friday. Grab some Yankee’s tickets for that one – you won’t want to miss it!

Yankees first basemen Nick Swisher was once an accomplished pitcher – when he was a freshman in high school. But yesterday, he got a chance to hit the mound again in the ninth inning of a blowout at the hands of the red hot Tampa Bay Rays.

In a game in which Yankee pitching gave up 15 runs and 17 hits, Swisher’s final inning of scoreless baseball made him not only a novelty pitcher, but also the Yankees best pitcher of the game. When the final out was made, Swish gave up one hit, no runs, one walk and one strike out. He also hit a homerun and accounted for three of New York’s five runs.

New York Yankees tickets are still in huge supply, as the Yankees haven’t exactly gotten off to the best start in the rough and tough AL East. It’s a long season though.

It’s no secret that AL East is the toughest league in the Majors, top to bottom and the 5 teams in that league are looking to continue their success in 2009. In the past 10 years, only twice has the AL East not claimed two post season teams. The Red Sox and Yankees being the most frequent visitors to October Baseball, but last year we saw the true power of the AL East when Tampa Bay came out of nowhere to claim first place in the division as well as the AL Pennant.

This year, the usual suspects are presumed to be contenders again – in addition to Tampa Bay and the Toronto Blue Jays, who are looking to veteran manager, Cito Gastin to lead them to the top once again.

Yankees Tickets and Red Sox tickets will be sparse this year, but Tampa Bay and Toronto are unlikely to sell out, so look at the schedule and grab the tickets in your home town for your favorite team!

CC Sabathia had a rough go of it in his first opening day start for the Yankees, as he gave up the victory, along with six runs in a 10-5 loss to Baltimore. Additionally, the Yankees other megastar, Mark Texiera started with a wimper by going 0-for-4 in his Yankee Debut.

In fact, the only real bright spots for New York, were the play of Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada, who -both coming off of injuries – each hit home runs, in the 6th and 7th, when the game was still up for grabs.

Despite the loss, the Yankees undoubtedly have one of the most talented teams in all the Majors, so look for them to bounce back quickly and fiercefully. If you are a Yankees ticket holder, don’t expect this result too often this season, as the Yankees will again be a force in the AL.

Not only are the Yankees under new ownership (kind of), and touting a fully-loaded roster of all-stars, veterans, and future Hall of Famers, but they are also preparing to enter the 2009 season in a brand new Yankee Stadium sitting only a few hundred yards away from the original stadium site in the Bronx.

The new Yankee Stadium will open its doors on April 3rd and will be the home of the Yankees for many, many years to come.

It’s smaller than the previous incarnation, holding 52,325 fans and with identical dimensions as well: 318 in left, 314 in right, and 408 in dead center. So what makes it better? It’s newer, the seats are wider, it has cup holders, and it holds 56 luxury suites. The restroom ratio is much smaller now, with a restroom available for every 60 fans, instead of the old ration of 1:89. Additionally, the 16 elevators, is a 5 fold improvement over the 3 in the previous stadium.

In short, it all comes down to Yankees ticket holder being able to get the most for their money and having the most complete and luxurious baseball experience.

For the second time in a row, Japan is the World Champion of Baseball. Team Japan’s great pitching, timely hitting, and immense enthusiasm for the WBC spelled victory once again for Team Japan. Once again Team USA under-achieved and showed that the world stage is apparently not worthy of the talents and abilities of many of the players who chose not to participate in this year’s WBC.

For team Japan most of their major stars participated and took the tournament very seriously. Daisuke Matsuzaka, Ichiro Suzuki, and Kenji Jojima were all brilliant in their respective roles on the team, while the only real star who wasn’t on the roster was the constantly injured New York Yankee Hideki Matsui.

Congrats to the Japanese, hopefully there will be some sort of motivation fit for the SuperStars of the USA in 2013.

Despite being plagued with injuries throughout the tournament, Team USA managed to make a great run in the 2nd World Baseball Classic before falling in the semi-finals to Team Japan. Injuries, however, were probably a major factor in Team USA not having the chance to make it further along in the WBC as more than half a dozen players came and went with injuries ranging from minor to moderate during the duration of the event.

In fact, Adam Dunn not been playing right field, and Mark DeRosa not been playing the completely unfamiliar position of first base, Team USA may have seen a different outcome. In the category of desire, however, no team seemed as enthusiastic about the WBC as Japan, who had all of their greatest players on display. Contrast that to the USA who had mostly mediocre players, and showed virtually no desire to win the tournament. For Team USA to ever win this thing, in my opinion, they need to start having pride in their country on the international baseball stage.

The WBC is over, but there’s still a lot of baseball left to be played in Florida and Arizona before opening day, so grab your New York Yankees tickets or New York Mets tickets now!
