Over the summer, Rutgers University became an official member of the Big Ten Conference, increasing the Big Ten’s membership to 14 institutions.

Currently, Rutgers is off to an impressive 4-1 start, and will face the 2-3 Michigan Wolverines next. Many expected Rutgers to be among the worst Big Ten teams in its first season in the conference, but the team has surpassed expectations with its surprising record.

It’s exciting, Rutgers coach Kyle Flood said after a 31-6 win over Tulane University. “Playing Division I football games is exciting. Being under the lights is exciting. Having a great opponent is exciting.”

The Scarlett Knights are aiming for their first Big Ten win after falling 13-10 earlier this month to Penn State during the conference opener. That wasn’t the best start for Rutgers, especially for quarterback Gary Nova who threw five interceptions. But he seems to be bouncing back from that. Nova redeemed himself in Saturday’s win over Tulane by throwing 291 yards and four touchdowns. Nova also set Rutgers’ career record for touchdown passes with 60 by connecting a 93-yard pass with Andrew Turzilli.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will play the Michigan Wolverines at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey on Saturday, Oct. 4, and kickoff is at 7 p.m. The next home game will be on Saturday, Nov. 1 against the Wisconsin Badgers.

Watch as history is made at High Point Solutions Stadium during the inaugural Big Ten season. Order your Rutgers football tickets from now!
