Martin BrodeurAfter 21 seasons patrolling the crease for the New Jersey Devils, Martin Brodeur will find himself in an unusual situation tomorrow – a man without a team.

Expected to play one last season between NHL pipes, unrestricted free agent Martin Brodeur has reportedly garnered interest from six clubs so far, as reported by ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Brodeur’s agent Pat Brisson has already held discussions with those teams as the NHL now allows teams to court free agents prior to July 1st, however they may not sign until the 1st.

Among the teams interested in Brodeur are the Toronto Maple Leafs, now being run by former Brodeur teammate Brendan Shanahan. Other teams rumored to be showing interest are the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Whether any of these teams actually sign Brodeur or he goes elsewhere remains to be seen but what is rather certain, the Devils will officially be handing the #1 starting goaltender job to Cory Schneider this coming season.

With 16 wins, a .921 save percentage and a 1.97 goals against average last year, the Devils are in good hands.

The team is expected to be looking to bolster the offense via free agency this summer and don’t be surprised to see them courting Jussi Jokinen, an Unrestricted Free Agent who is an expert in the shootout. The Devils lost a record 12 straight shootouts, just a few wins there and they would have reached the playoffs.

Tickets are already available for the upcoming season, be among the first fans to snatch up tickets for Devils games vs the NY Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers and every other team in the league as they visit the Devils next year. The best seats always sell first so act now.

Terry CollinsIn what is often viewed as the “kiss of death”, it has been reported that New York Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson has informed Manager Terry Collins that his job is safe.

The Mets were swept in back-to-back road series by the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants before breaking the slump with a 6-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers last night.

The Mets and Brewers return to action tonight at Citi Field. The Mets enter the contest with a 29-35 record overall and 1-17 record at home.

While Collins is safe for now, whether any other manager would have better results from this squad is hard to say. The beauty of baseball is it is a long season with many chances to turn things around. If the Mets go on a tear, they can erase this rough start and focus on making the playoffs.

The Mets finish the series with Milwaukee on Thursday before the San Diego Padres visit Citi Field followed by the Oakland Athletics.

With an extended homestand, now is a great time to grab some tickets via SelectATicket.com and head out to see the Mets in action!
