Derek StepanThe New York Rangers signed young center Derek Stepan to a two-year contract last week, ensuring the rising star will be in the lineup come opening night this Thursday at Phoenix.

Stepan put up 44 points in 48 games during the lockout shortened season, the previous year saw him post 51 points in 82 games. The team, and Stepan, are hoping he continues this upward trend and has his best season yet. Should he continue to produce at nearly a point per game pace or better, he will be in line for a substantial raise when this two year deal ends.

Stepan showed signs of stardom in his first ever NHL game as he recorded a hat trick against the Buffalo Sabres. Obviously that is a pace nobody can maintain but it set the tone that he is a player to watch for New York.

As fellow center Brad Richards struggled last season, Stepan rose to the occasion and became the Rangers’ go-to guy down the middle. Centering the top line, often with captain Ryan Callahan, the speedy Carl Hagelin or star winger Rick Nash on his line, Stepan proved he was up to the task.

The Rangers are going to need him to produce right off the bat. With a new head coach in Alain Vigneault, expectations are high that the team will be more offensively productive as under the previous coach, John Tortorella. Tortorella emphasized a commitment to defense and safe play, which was successful to a point but the Rangers struggled to find offense. With Vigneault at the helm, it is believed the team will score more goals which should lead to more wins and more high speed, entertaining hockey games at the fully renovated Madison Square Garden!

Select-A-Ticket has outstanding premium seats for all NY Rangers home games as well as tickets available at all pricing levels.

Damien BrunnerThe New Jersey Devils announced today that free agent Swiss forward Damien Brunner, who spent last season with the Detroit Red Wings, has signed a two year deal worth a total of $5 million with the the club.

The $2.5M annual cap hit is easily absorbed by the Devils as they are well under the salary cap.

The 27 year old Brunner is expected to take a top 6 forward position with the team and will be counted on to provide offense. He has been unsigned since turning down contract offers from Detroit and he came to the Devils camp on a professional tryout basis. He’s played well enough in camp to earn a contract, now the Devils will see what Brunner can provide night in and night out for at least the next two seasons.

In 44 games for Detroit last season, Brunner potted 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points to go along with 12 penalty minutes. He stepped up his production in the playoffs with 9 points in 14 games.

The Devils have added depth and skill to their forwards this off-season with the signings of Brunner, Michael Ryder, Ryane Clowe and Jaromir Jagr. As previously written here on TicketBulletin, they’ve also bolstered their goaltending with the acquisition of Cory Schneider.

All signs point to the Devils being an exciting and entertaining team this season as they have more offensive weapons than in recent seasons. Head out to the Prudential Center this year with some NJ Devils tickets and cheer them on against every other team in the NHL – the new schedule structure means every team will visit each other this year.

The New York Knicks season is right around the corner and fans are anxious to see some basketball as the Knicks placed 2nd on the top 5.

Not far behind them was P!nk, one of the most entertaining performers around, there is no shortage of interest when P!nk is on tour, she puts on a tremendous show and if you haven’t seen it yet, you should consider catching one of her concerts.

Alexander OvechkinFollowing several years of Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis pushing to host the Winter Classic, it is expected the Capitals will at long last make a formal announcement on Saturday that they’ll be hosting the 2015 NHL Winter Classic, according to The Associated Press.

An opponent for Alexander Ovechkin and the Capitals has yet to be announced, perhaps it will be made office tomorrow. Not quite specified yet is a venue, as well.

Most likely it will be held at FedEx Field in nearby Landover, Maryland, home of the Washington Redskins but there’s also the possibility of National Park within Washington, DC itself hosting the event.

The baseball stadium approach has been used for example in Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston previously which allows the NHL to avoid conflict with any NFL home team schedules.

More information will be made official tomorrow but this is an exciting time for hockey as the lockout is long in the rearview mirror and fans can get back to enjoying it for the love of the game.

The Winter Classic is the highlight of the regular season for most fans, even when their team is not involved as it honors the outdoor roots of the sport. Hockey fans are passionate, devoted and largely respectful of the deep history of the game.

To have the outdoor game in the nation’s capital, on New Year’s Day… it is just going to be a great scene and a wonderful reward for fans in Washington, DC and the surrounding area.

Register now to receive an email alert when 2015 Winter Classic tickets may be ordered online. Capitals fans have been waiting years for this moment and their opponent is likely to be backed by a few thousand fans of their own!

Bon JoviNew Jersey rockers Bon Jovi have added a Philadelphia date to their current tour and will be playing the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday, November 5th.

Currently in South America, the “Because We Can Tour” is continuing without longtime guitarist Richie Sambora who, according to which stories you believe, was fired from the band in August.

A long history of various problems has contributed to the absence of Sambora but sources close to the band maintain there’s a chance he will return in the future.

In the meantime, the band is not missing a beat at all as the lead guitar is being played by Philip (Phil X) Xenidis, who has filled in for Sambora previously and is an outstanding, top-notch guitarist in his own right.

With close ties to Philadelphia including the Philadelphia Soul football team and many years of legendary performances in the city of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia is a second home of sorts for Bon Jovi and fans will certainly be anxious to see the band once again this November.

Cory SchneiderCory Schneider could not have asked for a better start to his career with the New Jersey Devils. Granted it was just a preseason game and he only played the first two periods but he blanked the rival New York Rangers over those 40 minutes and gave fans a taste of what their goaltender of the future can do.

Acquired via trade with the Vancouver Canucks at the 2013 NHL Draft in exchange for the Devils’ 1st Round Pick, Schneider is expected to take over the goaltending for the Devils when Martin Brodeur eventually steps down.

If last night is any indication of what is to come for the Devils, the fans are in good hands as Schneider made several impressive saves, the most notable of which came with the Devils killing a penalty. New York Rangers center Brad Richards fired a rebound from the backboards towards the net and with his stick fully extended Schneider was able to steer it from harm’s way.

The Devils went on to win the game, featuring a mix of NHLers and prospects on both sides, by a final score of 2-1.

Goal-scorers on the night were Mattias Tedenby and Eric Gelinas for the Devils and Dominic Moore for the Rangers.

The Rangers travel to Philadelphia to face the Flyers tonight while the Devils play the Islanders Thursday night at the Prudential Center.

The regular season is coming up quickly and there are already some games sold out but you can find premium New Jersey Devils tickets available for all games, including rivalry matchups and the outdoor game at Yankee Stadium, by visiting!

Mark SanchezThe New York Jets suffered a frustrating loss to the New England Patriots last night, 13-10.

The Jets defense held the high octane Patriots at bay but Gang Green’s offense still couldn’t manage to seal the game.

Down by 3 with the ball and under three minutes to go, the Jets found themselves poised to take the lead but rookie Geno Smith in just his second career game threw a critical 3rd down interception which all but sealed the game for the Patriots.

These are the growing pains you will suffer through with a rookie quarterback playing in high pressure situations. Valuable lessons learned by Smith at this point in his young career, but it led to a loss in the standings against divisional rival New England which stings more than most losses.

Smith threw 3 interceptions – all in the fourth quarter.

In other NY Jets quarterback news, the injured Mark Sanchez has chosen not to undergo surgery on his injured labrum and hopes to return to the lineup before the end of this season.

Speculation persists that should Sanchez undergo the knife, it would almost certainly spell the end to his disappointed Jets career. Sanchez hopes to get back into the lineup, regain the starting job and finish the season strong.

The Jets now stand a respectable 1-1 on the season and play host to Buffalo on September 22 for a 4:25pm start at MetLife Stadium. Jets tickets and parking passes are available now at

Sep 11

Brandon JacobsA concern entering the season for the New York Giants was their running game. The loss of Ahmad Bradshaw via Free Agency, coupled with the injury to Andre Brown left the running game squarely on the shoulders of the young second year running back David Wilson.

Wilson has shown flashes of brilliance but like last season’s debut, this season he coughed up the ball twice against Dallas and was immediately benched.

Not being able to fully trust Wilson or have a proven and reliable backup to turn too, the Giants went to the free agency pool and brought back fan favorite Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs left the Giants prior to last season to join the San Francisco 49ers but never really fit in with them and has been looking for a new team to join.

His deal with the Giants is for one year but it gives them another back they can count on to give Wilson a breather and also one they can turn to when things are not going well for Wilson.

Additionally, the power game provided by Jacobs should help the Giants in short yardage situations and would have been useful in Sunday’s opener against Dallas when they started with a First and Goal from the 1 yard line but couldn’t cross the goal line.

The Giants look to rebound this Sunday against the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium. Giants tickets, as well as MetLife Stadium Parking Passes, for this game and all other home games are available now at

Rafael NadalRafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 yesterday at Arthur Ashe Stadium to win the Men’s Singles title in the 2013 US Open Tennis Championship before a soldout crowd of fans and celebrities.

The third set proved to be a turning point as Nadal faced a triple-break-point which would’ve given Djokovic the third set but Nadal was able to bounce back, take the third set and then close out Djokovic decisively in the 4th set, 6-1.

The victory marks Nadal’s 13th Grand Slam title of his career.

In the Women’s Singles, Serena Williams won her 17th major crown with a 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1 victory over Victoria Azarenka.

Geno SmithIn a move that surprised no one, the New York Jets today officially announced that Geno Smith will get the start in Week 1. Starting quarterback Mark Sanchez’s injury is expected to keep him sidelined until at least Week 3.

While neither Sanchez nor Smith had a great preseason, Sanchez would have been the starter if he were healthy.

So Geno Smith gets his first career start and it will be against former Jets defensive back Darrell Revis and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In his one stretch of considerable playing time in the preseason, Smith threw three interceptions against the New York Giants. Obviously hopes are that he performs much better than that outing but do not be surprised to see the Jets run the ball a bit more than usual in an attempt to slowly bring him along.

It will be difficult however to balance bringing him along and still trying to win the game should the Jets fall behind early.

Tickets for the home opener are currently priced at $75 and up but the market is constantly changing.

The Jets travel to New England for Week 2, a Thursday night game, and then return home for Week 3 to face the Buffalo Bills.

Tickets to these and all New York Jets games, including MetLife Stadium Parking Passes, are available at
