It’s the beginning of the NBA season, and the 2-1 Nets are already second in the Atlantic Division.

The first two games of the season for the Nets consisted of a late-game comeback from point guard Devin Harris. In the final few minutes of the fourth quarter during the Nets 106-100 win over the Sacramento Kings, Harris generated a late charge for the Nets and scored 21 points.

Before their furious comeback, the Nets made careless turnovers and poor decisions digging themselves an eight-point hole in the second quarter. Fortunately, Harris and the rest of the team were inspired to push forward and score 11 straight. Up until that point the Nets opened their season undefeated 2-0.

Despite the Nets’ undefeated start to the season, Halloween was not so good to them. Earlier tonight the Miami Heat beat the Nets 101-78. The Nets were led by Brook Lopez who made 5 rebounds and had 20 points. Rookie David Favors added 13 points to the Nets’ score. The rookie also had an impressive 13 rebounds.

Last year the Nets opened their season 0-18. All things considered, the Nets are off to a great start for the 2010-2011 NBA season. The New Jersey Nets will play their next game at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, November 3 against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Despite opening seven years ago to this date, the Broadway production of Wicked is still no stranger to Select A Ticket’s Top 5 Events list. This enchanting musical is preparing to welcome two new cast members to the show on November 2, 2010. Alex Brightman and Timothy Britten Parker, the current cast members playing the roles of Boq and Dr. Dillamond, will perform their final show on Sunday, October 31.

The role of Dr. Dillamond will now be portrayed by Tom Flynn who has appeared on Broadway in plays such as How to Succeed, Tommy, and Juan Darien. He has also assumed roles in a handful traveling shows including Les Misérables.

Etai BenShlomo will also join the cast, as he takes on the role of Boq. Although he has appeared in workshops, and national tours, Wicked will be BenShlomo’s Broadway debut. This talented actor attended the University of Michigan where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Wicked is a spellbinding musical that takes audiences of all ages into the past where they find out what happened before the 1939 movie classic “The Wizard of Oz.” The story follows Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good Witch before Dorothy ever dropped into their lives. The two witches meet as roommates college, and hate each other in the beginning. Eventually the witches take their own separate paths, but not before learning a great deal from each other.

Wicked is still on top, and remains the most popular musical on Broadway. Get your Wicked Tickets from Select A Ticket now!

It may be early in the season, but the New Jersey Devils have found themselves in a position they do not want to be in. The Devils (2-7-1) are uncharacteristically in the bottom of the NHL, and tonight they will try to end their losing streak against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Devils are in the midst of a three game losing streak, losing their last game 5-2 San Jose Sharks. This is the team’s longest losing streak in 18 months, and they haven’t lost four games in a row since 2009.

In the past 17 years the Devils have won nine Atlantic Division titles and three Stanley Cups while fighting for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately for the Devils, they are currently last in the league in scoring with only 17. With 35 goals allowed, they are also last in the league for that. Last season the Devils were unwilling to give up goals, only allowing 191 goals.

The Ducks have one goal tonight, and that is to beat the Devils in hopes of winning consecutive games for the first time this season. But the Devils will be working hard to stop them in order to escape their losing slump.

The New Jersey Devils will hit the ice against the Ducks at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The Public Theatre opened The Merchant of Venice on Broadway starring Al Pacino earlier last week. Pacino will reprise his admired performance as Shylock at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City for a limited engagement of only 78 performances.

Al Pacino has appeared in many Broadway shows including American Buffalo and Chinese Coffee, and has won Tony Awards for his performances in The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel and Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie?. This legendary actor has also won Academy Awards, Emmys, Golden Globes for his appearances in over 35 different films.

The opening of this play follows a sold-out, eight week run of this Shakespearian comedy at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park from June 12 through August 1 of this summer. The success of the Shakespeare in the park encouraged the transfer from the Park to the Broadway stage. Andrew D. Hamingson, executive director of The Public Theatre, said that response from the audience, critics, “and the desire of Al Pacino and the cast to bring it to a larger audience” sparked the transfer.

The New York Yankees were able to extend their World Series chances for at least one more game with a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. With this win tonight, the Yankees are on their way to overcoming the teams’ first 3-1 playoff deficit in 52 years.

After a week long slump, the Yankees played exceptional defense, and pitcher CC Sabathia struck out seven batters in six innings. However, he did run into a rough patch during his last inning.

It was the sixth inning and the Yankees were leading 6-1 with one out. Sabathia gave up three singles in a row, which loaded up the bases. A ground ball added one more to the Rangers score, with Mitch Moreland up at bat. It took him eight pitches, and the fans roaring in the crowds, but Sabathia was able to stump Moreland on a two balls, two strikes pitch.

Although the 2009 World Series Winners were able to avoid elimination this time, they still are not where they would ideally be. They forced a game six in the best-of-seven series that is still 3-2 in favor of the Rangers.

The New York Yankees will compete in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Friday, October 22, 2010 in Texas against the Rangers. This game will feature a rematch of game 2, as the Yankees will start Phil Hughes against Colby Lewis, only this time the Yankees are hoping that the game ends in their favor.

For the first time in nine years, the New York Jets are hoping to open the season by winning three games in a row on the road. So far on the road New York has played in Miami against the Dolphins and in Buffalo against the Bills, and were victorious in both games. Now with a 4-1 record, the Jets are currently leading the AFC East.

The Denver Bronos are the next opponents in the Jets’ path on the road. Although Denver has one of the top passing games in the NFL, the Jets were ranked at the top for pass defense in 2009. However, this year the Jets seem to be having a bit of trouble as they have allowed an average of 234.6 passing yards per game. The question is… will Denvers’ strong passing game be able to trump the Jets on the road?

The high amount of passing yards that New York has allowed may have something to do with the loss of Darrelle Revis, the Jets’ star cornerback. Health issues entailing a strained right hamstring caused the All-Pro to miss two games already this season. Revis played in Monday’s game against Minnesota, but admitted that his leg felt sore afterwards. Coach Rex Ryan is unsure if Revis will play on Sunday or not, but he said has high hopes that he will be “ready to roll.”

The New York Jets will face the Denver Broncos on Sunday, October 17 at the Invesco Field at Mile High.

He said, “In doing the National Hockey League Guardians, I just wanted characters that people would enjoy reading about… just good story, which is imaginative, which is high-concept, which is fast-moving, which is colorful.”

The ‘Guardians’ are sure to be popular amongst not only hockey and comic fans, but fans of entertainment in general. The 2011 NHL All Star Game will be held on Sunday, January 30 at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
