Rangers Top Draft Pick: Dylan McIlrath

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Last week at the Staples Center in Los Angeles a “dream come true” occurred for the first-round pick of the New York Rangers. Dylan McIlrath was drafted to the Rangers, who even at 18 years old understands the history of the Rangers and their home at Madison Square Garden.

McIlrath, along with the rest of the Rangers’ 2010 draft class took the opportunity to tour Madison Square Garden, and even preview what the new Garden will look like after the renovations take place over the next several years.

McIlrath acknowledged the tremendous history by mentioning the banners, and the famous hockey greats that have played at the Garden. “Just the history and the whole atmosphere, I’m sure, it’s going to be great once the building is packed. I’m looking forward to playing here,” McIlrath told NHL.com.

The transformations at the Garden will occur just as McIlrath himself will be improving, and transforming into a “complete player.” He said a the process would be long, and would be beginning this summer as he will try to improve his speed, strength, and size.

The Rangers will play their first preseason game at Madison Square Garden in New York City against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, September 23, 2010.

USA Men’s Soccer vs Brazil

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

It’s true… Americans are coming to like soccer more and more each day. The United States’ men soccer game against Ghana back in June was the most-watched soccer game in the history of American Television.

The game even surpassed the World Cup final featuring Brazil vs Italy in 1994. That year 18.1 million Americans tuned in to see Italy be defeated 3-2 by Brazil. The World Cup’s Ghana vs US game attracted 19.4 million viewers as the US lost 2-1 in extra time.

Now you can be a part of the exciting soccer action for yourself by getting tickets to see the US men’s team take on Brazil on August 10th. The National team has their work cut out for them as Brazil is a five-time FIFA World Cup champion.

This match will be the first meeting ever between Brazil and the United States, and hopefully the United States will bring their A game! Star players from both teams will be participating in the match to ensure an thrilling time for all involved.

Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” Reinvented by Roger Waters

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Among the most celebrated albums of all time is Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.” It was released back in 1979, and still is in the top 5 for Best Selling Albums. Now, 31 years later the band’s bass player and main songwriter will revisit the album by launching a tour in September featuring the iconic album.

This will be the first time Rogers will be performing the album since performing it with Pink Floyd, and it will only be the 32nd time the complete album was performed ever.

Waters seems to have crossed his t’s and dotted his i’s with this tour, as it is very ambitious. Whenever the album has been performed in the past it has always been staged amazingly. He is pulling out all the stops with bigger and better special effects than ever before.

The story of “The Wall” makes the album one of the greatest of all times conceptual wise, and the show certainly will not let down. Although the themes prevalent throughout the album are timeless the tour will be altered a bit to make it more relevant in today’s world. Any Pink Floyd fan would hate to miss this.

“The Wall” will be performed once more at Madison Square Garden on October 5th, and Philadelphia will host two nights of the performance on November 8 and November 9, 2010.

New York Knicks Waiting on Free Agent Decisions

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Free agent LeBron James seems to be the one of the most wanted players for both the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks. James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks, along with the coach and president attended a recruitment meeting on Thursday with the hopes of signing a contract with James.

James took the opportunity to be home in Ohio with family and friends over the holiday weekend. Hopefully he was able to decide between the six different teams who presented reasons why he should wear their uniform next year.

On Saturday in Ohio the Knicks met with James once again, but the president of basketball operations for the Knicks, Donnie Walsh said that the meeting was only to clear up the cap situation for the next two seasons.

Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh are two more players on the minds of both the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks. The Knicks also met with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh on Friday following their presentation to James the day before.

The free agents of the NBA will all be making their decisions soon, and the Knicks are waiting to hear what they hope will be good news.

The New York Knicks will play the Boston Celtics at the XL Center in Hartford, CT on Saturday, October 16, 2010. Get your New York Knicks Tickets from Select A Ticket now!

NJ Nets Make Major Free Agent Pitches

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

The New Jersey Nets are looking to gain a couple major free agents this week. This group of free agents is the largest in the history of the NBA. Not only that, but many of the free agents are significant players that any team would be lucky to have.

The free agent period began at midnight on Thursday, and the Nets did not waste any time. The New Jersey Nets have been very ambitious with their free agent pitches, and spent a total of nearly six hours with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh in hopes of signing them to the team.

Although new coach Avery Johnson believes their pitches were on target and that the meetings went well, it’s uncertain whether or not they went well enough for any of them to sign. As if it weren’t hard enough for the Nets to land a big star, they have to compete with offers from other teams. The Bulls, Cavaliers, Heat, and even the Knicks have all made offers to Wade, Bosh, and James.

Now the optimistic Nets only have one thing left to do, and that is wait. According to reports, LeBron James should be making his decision before Monday.

New Jersey Nets Tickets for the 2010-2011 season are not on sale yet, but you can sign up to be notified by Select A Ticket when they become for available.
