The odds for the Kentucky Derby have been changed a bit because the favorite, Eskendereya, is now out of the running for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. When the opening odds were released, Eskendereya was a 6/1 favorite to win the Derby.

Since Eskendereya is out of this years’ race, Lookin at Lucky (9-1) took over as the favorite. Lookin at Lucky has been the winner of five out of his eight races. He finished third at the Santa Anita Derby, which was his last race.

However the odds have changed once again, and now Super Saver is the favorite at 7-1 odds. This year Super Saver has raced in two races, but just missed first place in both of them. In the Arkansas Derby he finished second, and in the Tampa Bay Derby he finished in third place.

Super Saver’s trainer is Todd Pletcher who, although has never won the Derby,  is arguably one of the best trainers in the United States. His jockey is Calvin Borel, who may know Churchill better than any other. He has been the winner for two out of the last three Kentucky Derbies.

Other contenders in the 2010 Kentucky Derby include Ice Box, Stately Victor, Dean’s Kitten, Devil May Care, Mission Impazible, Awesome Act, Homeboy Kris, and others.

The 2010 Kentucky Derby will be held on Saturday May 1, 2010 at the Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

On April 3 Red Bull New York secured a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders, and broke their Major League Soccer record of having a 29-game losing streak on the road. On Saturday, April 24, 2010 Red Bull New York beat the Philadelphia Union, making them undefeated at home this season.

Their last game was on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 and the team once again beat the Philadelphia Union 2-1. The team is off to a great start. With a 4-1 record after five games, this is their best start ever to be exact. Last season they claimed victory for only five games in the whole season. Their fifth and final win was not until the last game of the season on October 24, which was seven months after the start of the season.

Red Bull New York will play their next game on Saturday May 1, 2010 where they will travel to the RFK Stadium to play their long time rival, D.C. United. If the team pulls a victory out of this game, it would break their 10-game losing streak at RFK. Their last win at this stadium was on October 8, 2005. Red Bull’s lifetime record in the nation’s capital is 6-24-4.

Jack Johnson, Aerosmith, and Greenday will all be performing at the PNC Bank Arts Center this summer. At 10 a.m. today, Live Nation announced PNC Bank Arts Center’s summer concert lineup. A couple of individual shows have been announced during the course of the past few weeks, but nearly the full lineup was just announced today.

The PNC Bank Arts center, which is located in Holmdel off of the Garden State Parkway, is a place that numerous legends in music have performed, and music fans gather to hear their favorite musicians perform.

The upcoming shows for this summer include Sugarland (May 22), Jethro Tull (June 13), Weird Al Yankovic (June 27), Doobie Brothers with Chicago (July 9), 311 with the Offspring and Pepper (June 10), Jack Johnson with G. Love and ALO (July 13), John Mayer with Train (August 8), O.A.R. with Citizen Cope (August 6), GreenDay with A.F.I. (August 14), and others. This is not the complete list, and according to Live Nation more acts will be announced soon including Aerosmith, Kiss, and more.

Citi field, home of the Mets, has expressed their interest in being the host of the 2011 NHL Winter Classic. The NHL seems to be inching closer to the idea of the the 42,000-seat field being the hosts of the fourth annual Winter Classic.

On Friday Gary Bettman, the commissioner of the NHL made a comment, which said that the owners of the Mets and the stadium have been “extremely interested and aggressive” in their pursuit.

The chief operating officer of the National Hockey League recently took a tour of Citi Field and left with a great impression, and rave reviews. John Collins added how great the ball park was while admitting that it had charm.

A large number of baseball stadiums have expressed interest in hosting the Classic including Detroit and Colorado. Bettman said the list of the teams and cities who are interested is a long one, but some options seem to be more appealing for the NHL.

Although the venue for the 2011 NHL Winter Classic has not been declared, one thing known for sure is that no matter where it takes place, it will be held outdoors. The NHL has a goal to bring the game of hockey back to its roots in the outdoors.

On Sunday, September 12 the Miami Dolphins are scheduled to play their season opening game against the Buffalo Bills. This is the second season in a row that their season will begin away from their home at the Sun Life Stadium.

This will be the first time since 1991 that the Dolphins will open their season in Buffalo. In the history of the team this will be the seventh time that the Dolphins have opened in Buffalo.

The Dolphins will not go home until Week Three because they are traveling to Minnesota for Week Two to play the Vikings on Sunday, September 19. The Dolphins have not opened with two games on the road since 1988.

For Week Three the Dolphins will return home where they will play their long time AFC rivals, the New York Jets. On Sunday, September 16 the New York Jets will travel to Miami for a Sunday night battle at the Sun Life Stadium.

The Dolphins will conclude their 45th season on the road by making their annual trip to New England against the Patriots on Sunday, January 2, 2011.

The New York Giants played their 273rd and final game in their old stadium against the Carolina Panthers. They were put to shame during the closing of the old Giants Stadium by losing 41-9.

The rematch is quickly approaching as the Giants will play the Panthers on September 12, 2010. Funnily enough the Panthers were the last opponent in the old stadium, and now will be the first opponent for the Giants in their new $1.7 billion stadium.

The Giants will play a total of four home games during the first six weeks of the season. You can also expect them to play four times in prime time during, which will include an intense game where Eli Manning of the Giants will play his brother’s Indianapolis Colts.

Tom Coughlin, the coach of the Giants, said that their schedule may be a little “challenging.” The Giants will play numerous games against teams that made it to the 2009 playoffs, and five of those games will not be on their own turf. New York will finish their season on the road at Minnesota, Greenbay, and then Washington all in a four-week time frame.

The New York Giants will play the inaugural game at the new Giants stadium on August 16, 2010 against the New York Jets, but their season begins against the panthers on September 12, 2010.

The Philadelphia Eagles needed someone to fill a linebacker position, and they fixed that by acquiring Ernie Sims from Detroit while giving up a fifth-round draft choice. The deal was made in a three-way NFL trade which involved the Denver Broncos as well as the Detroit Lions.

Ernie Sims is currently in the concluding year of his rookie contract, and according to sources the Eagles are looking to make him a long-term commitment for the team. Sims has only been with the NFL for four seasons, and he has played all four seasons as a Lion.

The 6′ 225-pound linebacker started every game for his first three seasons while averaging 124 tackles a season. He has played 59 career games, and in those 59 games he has one interception, 2 1/2 sacks, and 420 tackles.

It seems as though the Eagles have been able to fill all of their essential needs for their team, yet have 10 selections in the 2010 draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles will host their first preseason game on Friday, August 13, 2010 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Eagles’ regular season starts on Sunday, September 12, 2010 against Green Bay at the Lincoln Financial Field.

Jason Taylor signed a two-year contract with the New York Jets on Monday despite being despised by the fans for many years because of comments he made regarding his dislike for the Jets.

Taylor did not want to leave the Dolphins, but according to sources the Dolphins did not acknowledge his phone calls while he was in pursuit of a new contract. They told him that he would have to wait until after the draft for them to even consider renewing his contract. Two weeks ago Taylor visited the Jets, but only left with the decision to either wait until after the draft to see if Miami would re-sign him, or to sign with New York.

The 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is another signing risk that coach Rex Ryan has made to add to the multiple other ones. Fans will have to wait and see if this odd off-season activity will be rewarding to them or not.

Ryan seems to think it will be beneficial to their goal of reaching the playoffs.  ”We expect Jason to play a bunch and be a major contributor to our defense, clearly, we have an outstanding group already, but you can expect Jason to be out there a bunch.”

The New York Jets will host the opening game at the new Meadowlands stadium on August 16, 2010 against fellow tenants, the New York Giants. The regular season for the Jets begins on Monday, September 13, 2010 against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Indianapolis 500 is on a mission to bring the three-time Academy Award-winning actor to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in order to help start this year’s race.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Jack Nicholson has been offered the job of waving the green flag to start the 94th annual Indianapolis 500 race. Although nothing is set for certain, Jeff Belskus, the CEO of the IMS expects that the ceremonial position will be accepted by Nicholson.

Jack Nicholson is perhaps best known for his leading roles in The Shining, Batman, and As Good as It Gets. He is a major A-list celebrity, and it is no wonder why the International Motor Speedway is seeking him to wave the ceremonial green flag to start the race in May.

The 94th annual of the Indianapolis 500 will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2010. The 200 laps on the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway track will commence at 1:00 pm. Legendary singer-songwriter Phil Collins will be releasing an entire album of soul and Motown covers from the 1960′s. The album “Going Back” is set to release in September, and will be his first studio recording since “Testify” back in 2002.

In June, Collins will be previewing the new-old album during four concerts to be held at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Many musicians will contribute to the shows such as members of the Funk Brothers, bassist Bob Babbitt, Ray Monette, and guitarist Eddie Willis. The band backing the shows will be made up of a total of 18 members.

The track list for the album includes three songs by Stevie Wonder including “Blame It On The Sun” and “Uptight (Everything’s Alright),” three songs from The Four Tops including “Something About You” and “Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever,” and three songs from Martha and the Vandellas including “In My Lonely Room” and “Jimmy Mack.” Other artists that Collins will be covering on “Going Back” include The Supremes, The Temptations,  The Ronettes, and more.

Phil Collins will be at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City for four dates in June. The concerts will begin on Tuesday, June 22, and will be continuing through Friday, June 26, 2010.

The first fight to be held at the new Yankee stadium will be held on June 5 when Miguel Cotto will challenge Yuri Foreman in hopes of becoming the World Boxing Association’s Super Welterweight Champion.

This will also be the first fight to take place in a Yankees’ home park since 1976 when Muhammad Ali batteled Ken Norton. In the new Yankee stadium the boxing ring will be set up in right-center field with seats available for spectators on the field, as well as in the stands.

Miguel Cotto will be entering the fight off of a knockout loss to Manny Pacquiao. He is currently a two weight division champ, but he is hoping to add the Super Welterweight champion title to his record. Yuri Foreman fought it out against Daniel Santos to win the World Boxing Association’s 154-pound title, which was also his boxing title first ever.

A couple of long shot Kentucky Derby contenders are now on their way to the Derby after what happened on Saturday during two of the Derby’s most important prep races. After the Blue Grass Stakes and the Arkansas Derby, Stately Victor and Line of David, surprised everyone and are now headed to the Derby. This is a huge upset for the Derby because one of the horses had never won a graded stakes race, and the other was never even a part of one.

At the Blue Grass Stakes on Saturday with 40-1 odds, Stately Victor was the longest shot of all the horses on the board. Last year he earned sixth place in his only stakes race, but this year he was able to win the stakes race by 4 1/4 lengths.

At the Arkansas Derby, Line of Davis was another long shot, and his odds of winning were 17-1. He made his stakes debut on Saturday at Oaklawn, and pulled off a major and unexpected win.

The next question on everyone’s mind is, do they have a chance in the Run for the Roses? The 2010 Kentucky Derby will be held on Saturday May 1, 2010, and you can see in person if these two longshots can run their way to the front.

Roger Waters will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of the best contemporary albums of our time. In the fall the creative genius of Pink Floyd will be launching a tour where, for the first time in two decades, he will be performing “The Wall” in its entirety to audiences across North America.

“The Wall” was released almost 40 years ago, in 1971 by Pink Floyd. To this day the album is still one of the Top 5 best selling albums in the United States of all time. In it’s 39 year existence, the album has only been played live 31 times. However, this 35-date tour of the iconic album by Pink Floyd frontman, Roger Waters, will change that.

The tour will launch in Toronto on September 15 and will include dates in Las Vegas, Boston, and many other cities along the way. Waters will be performing “The Wall” in New York at Madison Square Garden on October 5th. Additionally, Philadelphia will host two nights of this performance. The tour will be held in Philadelphia on November 8th and 9th before the tour concludes on December 13 in Anaheim.
