New York Rangers Losing Playoff Hopes

The New York Rangers lost to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. This 4-3 loss did not help the Rangers advance their place in the playoffs. Even though a loss from the Boston Bruins last night did help the Rangers, New York still finds themselves tied for ninth place with the Atlanta Thrashers.

The Rangers quickly fell behind, but ended up leaving the first period with a 2-1 lead over the Blues with goals from Ryan Callahan and Marian Gaborik. Callahan scored on a power play with assists from Olli Jokinen and Gaborik, and Gaborik’s goal was his 37th of the season.

The only other goal made by the aRangers on Thursday night did not come until the third period when Wade Redden tied the game at 3-3. The goal made by Redden was the first time he scored in 58 games, and was only his second of the season.

Playoff hopes for the New York Rangers are slowly winding down. They needed to do well in this game, and they did not show up the way they needed to. The New York Rangers will play their next game in Boston against the Bruins on Sunday, March 21, 2010.
