New York Rangers Win 3-2 Over Boston Bruins
The New York Rangers earned a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Monday night at Madison Square Garden to give the Rangers their 2nd victory in 10 home games. A late goal by Christopher Higgins was the shot that led the Rangers to victory after controlling most of the game, and almost letting it slip away.
The Rangers took the lead halfway through the first period. They took this lead through Ales Kotalik’s power-play. This goal was his first goal since Novemeber 5 of last year. The Rangers added to their lead with a goal by Erik Christensen in the second period. This was his second score in 3 games. At this point New York seemed to be the sure winner.
The Bruins finally showed up to the game late in the third period when they struck twice. Matt Hunwick made the first, and Blake Wheeler was right behind him scoring just over a minute later.
Christopher Higgins saved the game for the rangers when he struck with just 1:29 remaining in the game. The goal led the Rangers into joint seventh in the Eastern Conference. This goal was especially special for Higgins as this was his first goal at Madison Square Garden since October 6, 2005 when he was a rookie with Montreal.
