Jets Win in Stadium Finale
The New York Jets were the lucky team to play the football finale at Giants Stadium. New York closed the stadium with a 37-0 shutout to the Cincinnati Bengals, and a shower of green and white confetti. Giants’ stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey has hosted the most National Football League games in history. In this 34 year-old building the Jets earned playoff berth in its final game.
The Jets completely owned the first half of the game. During New York’s opening drive they went 72 yards in 7 plays where Thomas Jones finally got into the end zone and scored for the home team. Mark Sanchez threw for less than 70 yards and went 8 of 16 passing. But it was New York’s defense that was able to stop Cincinatti. They held the Bengals to only 7 yards.
The Jets embarrassed the Bengals in Sunday’s game. However, the Jets won 5 out of their last 6 games so they earned the AFC’s fifth seed and a chance to play in the wild card round. Cincinnati will have a chance to redeem themselves when the teams face each other in the playoffs on Saturday at Paul Brown Stadium.
