New York Giants Defeat the Falcons in Overtime
On Sunday afternoon, the New York Giants were able to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime 34-31. A great game by quarterback Eli Manning led to the Giants’ first win since October 11.
Manning had some of his best throws of the year to receiversMario Manningham and Steve Smith. He completed 25 of 39 passes for 384 yards. This was his career high and his first 300 yard game at home ever. He threw 3 touchdown passes and 1 interception.
The New York Giants had a 14-point lead in the final 6 minutes of the 4th quarter, but they blew it by allowing a touchdown drive by the Falcons in the final drive of the game.
This drive lasted for 12 plays, 76 yards and ended with an 11-yard touchdown pass with under 30 seconds left of the game which made the score even at 31-31. This was the second time in two games the defense allowed this to happen.
The game ended with a 29-yard pass from Eli Manning to Mario Manningham which set up a game-winning 36-yard field goal from Lawrence Tynes.
The New York Giants will play their next game in Denver against the Broncos on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, November 26.
