New York Jets Lose on Last Second Field Goal
On Sunday, November 15 the New York Jets lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-22. This loss may have eliminated their chances of making it into the playoffs. It was another devastating loss for the 4-5 Jets, who opened the NFL season with three wins.
The loss came in the form of a 21-yard field goal kicked by Jacksonville’s Josh Scobee as time expired in Sunday’s game at the Meadowlands.
The Jets, who are the ranked second in the NFL for defense, allowed 250 yards, 14 first downs, and 21 points in just the first half. In the second half the Jets’ defense showed what they were made for most of allowing just 97 yards.
The New York jets played poorly, and made many sloppy errors. During the biggest play of the game they failed on pass coverage, they wasted 2 timeouts in the second half because of a sideline/huddle miscommunication, and when they were instructed not to tackle Maurice Jones-Drew, they did. Coach Rex Ryan was intending on letting Jacksonville score a touchdown just to leave enough time for the Jets to tie or win the game, but the Jets were unable to do that.
The New York Jets hope to end the teams losing streak on November 22 against the New England Patriots.
