New York Giants fall to New Orleans Saints

In week 6 of the NFL regular season, the previously unbeaten New York Giants were not able to maintain their perfect start to the season after Sunday’s game against the undefeated New Orleans Saints.

The Giants arrived with the meanest defense in the NFL and a 5-0 record. They left with 48 points on them and their first loss of the year. The Saints crushed the giants 48-27, and ruined Eli Manning’s homecoming.

For Eli Manning, it was his first game in the Louisiana Superdome, but it wasn’t exactly the start he was looking for. He was 14 of 31 for 178 yards. In the second quarter he was able to connect with Mario Manningham for a 15-yard score, but he overthrew a deep pass to Steve Smith that could have been a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, after the game was out of reach, Manning was replaced by David Carr.

New Orleans quarterback, Drew Brees was able to throw 369 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Giants, the team that is the NFL’s top-rated pass defense. With 7 touchdowns, the Saints scored the most points on the Giants in 10 years.

The New York Giants hope to redeem themselves with their next game against the Arizona Cardinals on October 25.
