The greatest and most intense rivalry in all of sports is about to be renewed, but before the New York Yankees venture into Boston tomorrow, they had to dismiss the troubled Rays of Tampa Bay.

The Yankees left in style slamming four home runs in a 5-3 victory in Yankee Stadium. Tampa Bay starting pitcher Andy Sonnanstine was on the wrong end of all four of those homers. Johnny Damon’s solo shot put the Yankees up in the sixth after Mark Teixeira’s bomb in the first inning tied it at 1-1.

Nick Swisher’s shot in the second tied the game once again in the second at 2-2, after the Yankees gave up early runs. Derek Jeter also piled on in the eighth inning with a solos shot to lead off that inning.

The New Yankee Stadium has now seen over 100 home runs in only 29 games and is becoming one of the MLB’s premier hitter’s parks. Grab some New York Yankees tickets and try for yourself to try and shag some homers.
