Nick Swisher and Jorge Posada provided plenty of offense for the Yankees on Saturday as they blasted a pair of homeruns off of Mets pitching that would eventually lead to a 5-0 drubbing of their New York Neighbors.

Swishers 14th bomb of the season was a solo blast, while Posada’s 10th roundtripper drove in three runs. The only other Yankees RBI came from an Alex Rodriguez single.

AJ Burnett grabbed the win for the Yankees for his 6th of the year, while the Mets’ Tim Redding took the loss to move to 1-3 on the year.

The Mets would love to salvage Sunday’s game, so grab someMets tickets today and cheer them on!

Chien Ming Wang has struggled mightily all year long, giving up run-after-run and never getting the mighty run support that he would need to pick up wins, as he as gone half way through the season and has accumulated a 0-6 record on the year and and ERA over 10.

Sunday’s matchup was different however, as the Yankees offense posted three runs in the first inning, while Wang tossed a solid game, giving up two runs and picking up the win 4-2.

Livan Hernandez suffered the loss for the Mets, while Mariano Rivera picked up his 18th save on the year.

No Yankee player accumulated more than one hit, as the club’s four runs came off of only four hits. For the Mets, only Gary Sheffield picked up more than one hit (2) while their two runs came on five hits.

The Yankees and Mets are both vying for playoff berths, so grab your Mets and Yankees tickets today and enjoy the run.

This week’s hottest events on SelectATicket.com is led by David Beckham’s return to MLS soccer when the LA Galaxy visit Red Bull New York on July 16th at Giants Stadium. That is closely followed by another Giants Stadium event, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s string of concerts as the final musical act at the current Giants Stadium. There has been a lot of interest in those shows as the die-hard Bruce fans all want to see at least one of those shows.

Broadway makes sure it is represented by the Jersey Boys and Lion King and of course it wouldn’t be summertime in New York without the Bronx Bombers, the New York Yankees make the list to close out the top five.

  2. Bruce Springsteen tickets
  3. Jersey Boys tickets

With the all star game coming up in just over three weeks, the online voting is going crazy as fans across the world are choosing their favorites. For most of the season, Red Sox slugging first baseman Kevin Youkilis has lead for that position in voting, but tonight, the MLB announced that Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has replaced Youkilis among the top vote getters.

Many would argue that Youkilis is the better player, putting up superior numbers in most categories, while proving his versatility by playing third base as well as first. And as a golden glove winner, his offensive prowess is not all that makes him worthy to be an All Star.

However it is the fans that decide the starters, and Tex plays for the most popular team in all of baseball, and his numbers are quite good – if not quite as good as Youk’s. His 20 homeruns on the season tie him for fifth in the Majors and second in the AL. Either opponent is worthy, and the fans only have days to decide.

Regardless of whether you are team Youk or team Tex, you can vote online at MLB.com or grab some Yankees tickets and vote the old fashioned way, like we did when we were kids.

The Mets were happy to see the end of Joel Pineiro for the rest of their series with St. Louis, as the Cardinals pitcher put up a performance to remember in silencing the Mets bats, as well as creating som offense to help out his own cause in the Cards 3-0 win at Citi Field on Tuesday.

Pineiro picked up the first hit of the night for St. Louis in the third inning when he doubled. He then came home to score the first of the Cards runs, and as it turns out, the only one they really needed. On the mound, he truly shone, sitting down Met after Met and throwing only 100 pitches in the contest. He didn’t even allow a fly ball until the fifth inning, when Omir Santos flied out to end that inning. Pineiro allowed two hits and one walk and one HBP but was able to erase two of those four baserunners on double play ground balls.

Additional offensive support came from Albert Pujols who increased his league leading RBI total to 70 with a two run single in the seventh inning.

The Cardinals beat the Mets for the fourth time in five meetings this year and won for the first time at the new Citi Field. The game was delayed by rain for 52 minutes in the top of the third inning – a fact that makes Pineiro’s performance even more incredible.

This is turning into a great series. Grab some Mets tickets and enjoy the next two games at Citi Field.

While most of the league was off on Monday, the Mets were hosting a Make up game with the St. Louis Cardinals, and it worked out better than a day off for the Mets as the sent St. Louis packing with a 6-4 win. Despite the two home runs by St. Louis – one from Ryan Ludwick, and one from Brendan Ryan – the Mets were able to overcome with solid pitching and good hitting of their own.

Daniel Murphy hit a home run for New York, while Tim Redding pitched seven inning, giving up only five hits. Luis Castillo, and Omir Santos has perfect nights from the plate for the Mets as well going 3-3 and 4-4 respectively.

The free win leaves the Mets only 2.5 games back in the NL East behind Philadelphia with a chance to cut even further into it before the All Star break next week. The two clubs have been the class of the NL East for years and continue to vie for dominance in the north east.

However, the past few years have been owned by the Phillies as cataclysmic late-season collapses have left the Mets on the sidelines the past two season, culminating in Philadelphia’s World Series Championship last October.

Grab some Mets tickets and head down to Citi Field and help the Mets out on their quest to overcome their past and take the NL East crown at last.

The Yankees opened a three-game series in Atlanta today needing some wins to keep pace in the AL East, or perhaps even cut into the lead three-game lead held by the Red Sox. Unfortunately for the Yanks, however, they were unable to get off to a solid start on Tuesday. With Boston playing the Major League worst Washington Nationals, the Yanks 4-0 loss on Tuesday is unlikely to yield anything but a greater division deficit for the Yanks.

Brian McCann led the Braves, going 3-4 including a homerun and two of the Braves four RBI. The Yankees will have two more chances to improve the AL East record, while the Red Sox will continue to try and hold them off from the distant confines of Washington, DC.

It’s been a rather streaky season for the Yankees so far, but despite their ups and downs, being only four games back is not a bad place to be in at the halfway point of the season. If you’re a Yankees fan, the club will definitely need you down the stretch, so buy some Yankees tickets and be there for the ups and downs that are yet to come!

After last weekend’s disappointing series against rival Red Sox, they needed strong showings this week to stay in the hunt for the AL East lead as the All Star break approaches.

And for the most part, the Yankees have had a good week, but with an opportunity to gain on the Red Sox – who lost on Tuesday night – against the Nationals, the MLB’s worst team the Yanks were unable to capitalize.

Adam Dunn’s homerun was the deth knell for New York as Chien Ming Wang’s record for the season fell to 0-5.
The Yankees are keeping it close with the Sox as the symbolic mid-season break approaches. It would be a huge moral boost if they could close the gap by All-Star week.

Grab some Yankees tickets, and help them out as the look for a bounce-back season.

The Mets are working hard to capture the lead in the NL East, and with the All Star break quickly approaching, they find themselves only three games out of the lead behind Philadelphia.

On Wednesday night, they hit a stumbling block in Baltimore, as the Orioles turned them back 6-4. It would have been a great opportunity for them if they had managed to win, as the Philies are currently riding a two-game losing streak.

The difference-maker in the game for Baltimore was Aubrey Huff, whose 7th inning two-run blast put the Orlioles in the lead for good. Reliever Pedro Feliciano took the loss for the Mets and fell to 2-2 for the year.

All things considered, the Mets are looking good this year and have a real shot at winning the East – of course a lead going into the All Star break would be a huge morale booster. Grab some Mets tickets and help them make their mark!

The premier rivalry in all of sports hasn’t been much to write home about so far this season – especially for Yankees fans. The Red Sox are Red Hot against the Bronx Bombers this year after an 8-0 start.

The Sox completed another sweep this week as this all-important series was renewed. This week’s series was a little more important than most in that the two clubs entered the series tied for the division lead.

After the weekend sweep, the Sox now have a three game advantage in the league as the Sox continue to try and fight off the Yankees before the All Star break.

The Red Sox clicked on all cylinders in beating the Yanks as pitching, hitting and defense were all solid.
If you’re a Yankees fan, grab some Yankees tickets this season as they try to cut back into Boston’s lead.

The Mets landed in Baltimore with an opportunity to cut into Philadelphia’s NL East league lead, and got of to a great start on Monday night with a 6-4 win over the Orioles.

Leadoff hitter Alex Cora was the star for New York as he went 3-5 on the night with a run scored. Pitcher John Pelfrey also pitched a gem in holding the Orioles scoreless through five innings.

The win is huge for the Mets as the Phillies were off – giving the Mets a free shot at the Philies lead. As the All Star break approaches, the Mets would love to capitalize on every opportunity.

Grab some Mets tickets and get out to the ballpark!

The biggest rivalry in all of sports has been very lopsided this year, as the Red Sox have continued to dominate the Yankees and have won every contest this year against their AL East rivals to improve to 7-0 on the season against the Yankees. But more importantly for the Red Sox, the win snapped a first place tie in the division – one that the Yankees had scratched and clawed for in the past 4 weeks – giving the Sox a division lead.

One of the great stories on the season for the Sox is knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, who is notoriously hit-or-miss who and who now has his team-leading 8th win of the season while also picking up his 8th quality start.

The Yankees have eleven more chances to upset the Red Sox this season, starting tomorrow night when C.C. Sabathia toes the rubber against Brad Penny. Grab some, Sox-Yankees tickets today – you never know what’s going to happen next.
