Yankees Strike Early, Hard, for Win
Brett Gardener and Andy Pettite came to Toronto to play on Wednesday, and the pair helped the Yankees cruise to a 8-2 victory against the MLB-leading Blue Jays. Gardener’s homerun and three RBI combined with Pettite’s strong 6-inning performance on the hill helped the Yankees grab a much needed win against the AL East leaders.
Only 24 hours after being shut down by Toronto ace Roy Halladay, the Yankees found some offense in a serious way as they batted around in the second inning, chasing Toronto’s Scott Richmond out of the game after recording only five outs.
The win brings the Yankees only one game out of .500 at 16-17 as they sit 5.5 games out of the division lead behind Toronto, and Boston. If you’re a fan, grab some New York Yankees tickets and cheer your team on!
