Mets Look to Dominate NL East
Just as the AL East is the premier division in the American League, the NL East is the standard barer for the Senior Circuit. And the New York Mets are looking to continue in 2009 to be the best the NL has to offer.
For 15 years, the Atlanta Braves were the only team of consequence in the National League East – winning the division year after year, after year. Only in the strike-shortened 1995 season (when the Montreal Expos were on pace to make it into the pennant) have the Braves not led almost the entire season.
In the past few years it has been the Mets, along with the Phillies, who have been major contenders out of the East. In each of the past two years, the Mets have struggled in the later weeks to seal the deal as the Phillies have taken the division, and last year, the World Series.
Grab some Mets tickets – or Phillies, Nationals, Braves, or Marlins and be a part of the dynamo that is the NL East!
