I filed this nugget under “N” for “no big surprise” – U2′s new album gets rave reviews from Rolling Stone magazine. While I say it’s not a surprise, I can’t really offer any critique myself, as I haven’t listened to it yet – I won’t lie, I’m not a huge U2 fan. But U2 is one of those bands that no “cool” critic or publication would ever publish a negative review about, so in that sense, there is absolutely no surprise.

Rolling Stone gave the new album “No Line on the Horizon” a stellar 5-star review which should go a long way in helping their album sales as well as the U2 concert tickets that are already going fast. I’m sure the album is good -U2 has already proven that they can stand the test of time – but I can’t help but wonder how much of the praise is out or respect for their entire catalog.

I guess there’s only one way to find out…
