Giants Clinch Homefield in Overtime
Friday, December 12th, 2008It took the Giants 4 Quarters and an overtime period to beat the Panthers on Sunday, but they did so, and were able to secure the NFC’s best record and the home field advantage throughout the playoffs when Brandon Jacobs scored from two yards out as New York beat Carolina 34-28 on Sunday.
Despite a monster effort from DeAngelo Williams – who scored four touchdowns on 108 yards rushing – the Giants were able to come back late in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 28 on a Jacobs plunge from one yard out. Jacobs himself had a great outing, rushing for 87 yards and three touchdowns, including that one with 2 minutes left in the game, as well as the OT game winner.
The Giants have definitely proven that they are deserving of home field, having successfully defended their Super Bowl crown thus far. They seem to be the favorites in the NFC right now, and could find themselves back in the big game in February. If you want to see for yourself, grab some New York Giants tickets!
