Broderick Returning to Broadway
Matthew Broderick is no stranger to the stage, being somewhat a veteran on the stage, as well as starring in numerous film adaptations of popular plays (The Music Man, Biloxi Blues, The Producers), Broderick knows the dedication and determination it takes to have a successful Broadway run.
His last Broadway performance was in a 2005 revival of The Odd Couple in which he garnered critical applause and praise from fans every night. This week, Broderick announced that he will be returning to Broadway this spring for another revival – The Philanthropist.
The Roundabout Theatre Company will be producing The Philanthropist at the American Airlines Theatre beginning on April 26, 2009. It will begin preview performances on April 10th.
The Philanthropist, in which Broderick plays an insular college professor, was last seen on Broadway in 1971, when it enjoyed a 64- performance run.
