Yankees Get the Best of MLB’s Best
The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim came into the week with complete opposite viewpoints, as Los Angeles was boasting a Major League best record and trying to creep out a 100-win season, while the Yankees had fallen into fourth place in the division and are just trying to finish the season with a win percentage above .500. Nevertheless, in this great game of baseball, anyone can win on any given night, and the Yankees did just that last night in Los Angeles – and in authoritative fashion.
When all was said and done, the Yankees ended the night with a 7-1 victory and a little bit of pride as they perhaps proved to themselves that they are better than their record insists. They will get another chance tonight as they face-off with the Angels again in Anaheim. Though the teams are very different, there will be many reasons to buy NY Yankees tickets and join in the fun.
The Yankees used the long ball, in part, last night to finish off the Angels, as ARod, teed off a three-run shot in the 6th, while Johnny Damon popped two out in the 7th and 9th innings (one solo and one a two run blast).
Little known Alfredo Aceves was on the hill for the Yankees and collected the win, while one of L.A.’s seemingly endless line of aces, Ervin Santana toed the mound in the losing effort.
