Mariners Take Series as Yankees Fall Further in Division Race

The Yankees’ woes continued this weekend as they traveled to Seattle to take on the worst team in the majors in the Seattle Mariners. What could have been a great opportunity to bounce back and take a stab at the division, became another stumbling block in their disappointing season as they lost two of three to the Mariners while seeing arch-rival Boston gain two games on Tampa Bay, who are now sitting only 1.5 games above the AL East fray.

What’s worse for the Yankees is that as of right now, they can’t even claim to be the third best team in the AL East as the Toronto Blue Jays have continued their great second-half run to pull just ahead of the Yankees in the division – giving them one more hurdle to surpass if they want to have any chance at the playoffs.

They have also fallen behind the Blue Jays in the Wild Card race, meaning that that avenue is unlikely as well. However, we have seen some crazy finishes in this great game over the years, and you never can count anyone out until that magic number is zero.

Regardless of the outcome of this season , this is the final stretch for “The House that Ruth Built” and NY Yankee tickets are sure to be hot items over the coming three weeks as we get set to say goodbye to a true landmark.
