Mets Winners With or Without Santana

Mets player David Wright had some things to say about the Mets while he was at the New Hyde Park rededication for the Ronald McDonald House. He was there visiting  children who are sick, posing for some pictures and signing autographs. Several kids wore Mets attire. Wright also gave his opinion - that this season will go well whether the Mets get Johan Santana or not.

Not that he has any inside information about the duel for Santana going on right now between the Mets and the Twins. The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the decision on who gets Santana will be decided in the next 10 days. He has been a Minnesota Twin since 2000. The money is what everyone is choking on. Santana, is asking for a six-year, $150-million extension in return for waiving his no-trade clause.

Wright thinks it’s riding on the pitching staff….Oliver Perez, Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and John Maine.

Wright himself had the best season last year. He batted .325 with 30 home runs, 107 RBIs, 113 runs and 34 stolen bases. The third baseman also finished fourth in voting for the National League Most Valuable Player Award and won a Gold Glove. He’s still working out harder than ever.
